The Fab 40s in: Fashion for the Apocalypse??

Well, where do I begin with this one? Alright I'll start by saying that I'm honored to be invited by Shelbee on the Edge to share in on the fashion adventures with the Fabulous 40s, a group of six stylish, fashion bloggers from around the globe. As this month's hostess, Shelbee chose the guest blogger, as well as the theme: The Apocalypse. Of course we assume that there will be no thought to fashion when one is surviving post apocalypse, but one can never be too prepared.

AND I've a question...Will I be here for the erupting chaos of the end times (some believe we are already in it!), or will I be snatched away into the heavens, safe and sound with the Lion and the Lamb, the King of kings and the Lord of lords?? There are differing arguments as to whether or not Christ followers will be taken up before or mid-tribulation. I've not studied this topic enough to be an expert, but I know what I'd prefer to think. My husband and I joked that I could take pictures of my clothes in a heap on the floor, depicting a Christian rapture. However, that's not as entertaining as my comical attempt to portray one ready to take on the apocalypse.

Of course there is no shortage of material to read or watch if I needed inspiration. Am I going for a zombie apocalypse or pretending the grid went down and it's all about survival? No matter, I'll be ready for either with my hubby's machete and hatchet. Yes, I'm laughing and you should do the same because I'm going to take this a step further and reveal the fact that we built up a supply of dry goods such as: grain, sugar, beans and rice stored in 6 gallon buckets (and still have some remaining) from when my hubby decided to err on the side of caution when it came to the political climate and economy.

Speaking of hubby, he assisted with this photo shoot and kept making me laugh in the process.
WHAT DO I WEAR?

I admit that this theme had me stumped. What in the world do I wear? My green, distressed and overly featured denim were my first thought, but I was bored with them.  So what then? I continued to struggle for inspiration and resorted to extra prayers; even wrote the supplication in my journal. That very day, I opened my Christmas gift from a friend and laughed.  Inside the package was this olive green button-up, along with coordinating earrings and a HAT! You may think it coincidental, but I'd say He answered and provided. As for the hat and the earrings, I'll be featuring them when I'm not worried about fighting off pillagers.

What Does It Mean?

Apocalypse: revealing, disclosure, to take off the cover

One other thing. When Shelbee informed me of this month's theme I did a quick review of where the word apocalypse came from.  "Apocalypse" is the first word in the Greek text of the book of Revelation in the Bible. It's the last book, and is also known as the "Apocalypse of John". It was written to disclose God's instructions and provide encouragement for Christ followers! (Insights received from Got Questions, a website to answer any Biblical questions.)

Have you heard of the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B Jenkins? I remember reading that when I was a teenager. Though they are fiction books, Tim LaHaye interprets Revelation as literally as he can throughout the series, so this may be an engaging way to brush up some end times facts.

Alright now let's get onto the wonderfully creative and far more respectively fierce women I'm both inspired and encouraged by.

Shelbee on the Edge

This month's theme creator and fashion enthusiast, Shelbee, leaves no doubt that she will use that rifle of her husbands, if she has no other course to protect her family. 1. Chrissy, this is the best post ever! I love that you looked at the Apocalypse from a Biblical standpoint as I suspected you would, which is one of the reasons I was hoping you would join us for this theme! In fact, I have coined you our Spiritual Guide were we to form a post-apocalyptic band of bad ass gals...always leading us down the righteous path where good will prevail over all evil. Your outfit is absolutely fabulous and I love that your clothing inspiration prayers were answered! You are wielding your weapons with all the confidence of a warrior and I suspect that we both would figure out proper weapons use if the necessity were to arise. I am so very glad that you joined us this month! It was a tricky styling theme, for sure. Even though I picked it, I still struggled! But we all rose to the challenge in the most fantastic way. By the way, my husband had me laughing all the while we were taking my photos! Mostly because I had no idea what to do with the darn gun! Wishing you a very Happy New Year, my friend. May 2019 be filled with so much love, joy, and happiness...and may no weapons be needed!
