Hello! Today's post is filled with drivel about the weather, a peak into the everyday runnings of a stay home mom, as well as my latest cupcake adventures. So please, take a moment and share in this crazy life. I love to hear from you! Your comments, as well as shared stories enrich my day exponentially!
Shall we being with the fact that Georgia began the week with temps in the high 70s and then dropped down to the 50s within a 24 hour period?? These photos were taken in the 70s, but the wind and overcast pall should have clued us in to what was coming next.
Sandals and slightly ventilated jeans didn't keep me as cool as I thought, but those mornings can be deceivingly cool. One can attempt layering but some days...
In truth, combating the weather was the least of my worries. I had places to be and boys to chauffeur. It all began with Monday's errands, which included a trip to Costco and a Splat bakery pop in. After treating the boys to a cookie, we picked our free cupcake. Then I convinced them to snap a few pics for the blog, but our "shoot" soured quickly.
Apparently, a few ants decided to venture into Caden's shoe. Though I couldn't find any, he insisted that he was bitten several times. Evan continued on with the photo shoot as though nothing was amiss. Poor Caden continued to complain of bites so...End of Shoot.
From there, the week became a series of practices, ball games, chaffering to keep the older boys social life alive and school for the younger boys. I felt like my quick stops for coffee and free cupcakes were moments of fun in between the crazy.
However, I still tried to remain stylish! I hope you like today's combo even though there was no time for make up!

****Cupcake Adventures****
Pumpkin Spice & Neighbor Fun
I asked the boys who should get our next cupcake and they unanimously agreed that it should be Ms. E, our neighbor. I'm not sure why it's taken this long to get one to her. The boys started visiting Ms. E when they were about three years old. They'd hop in their power wheels car, drive across the lawn and then park at her doorstep. It was the cutest thing. Though the first time it happened, I didn't realize they'd left our yard. My momentary panic, quickly subsided when I saw the John Deere green tractor out front.
Oh my goodness. Where has the time gone???
"Chrissy! Could you come over and get ,Bella, my cat into her crate? The pest control guy is coming out and it won't be safe for her."
My mind quickly flashes back to when my husband tried to get her other cat into the crate. It was a traumatizing fiasco worth writing about but there's no time today! Reluctantly, I agreed. Please don't misunderstand. I like helping out, but picking up cats makes me nervous.
"Ok. I'll be over in just a minute."
Like one of my boys off to do chores, I slowly make my way across the lawn.
"You know how to pick up a cat, right??
She gets right to business by demonstrating the proper way to pick up a cat on my neck.
"Ah, yes. I've picked up kittens this way."
I glance over at Bella, who seems to be daring me to go ahead and try it. Oh boy.
"Alright. Let's do this."
I bend down and grasp at the skin behind Bellas neck. Gently I begin to raise her. Ok. I didn't even raise her an inch. I was nervous! Once again, I find the loose folks of skin behind her neck, hold my breath and pull up. Nope. Not doing it. It was like my brain wouldn't permit my arms to do the actual motion of lifting.
"Ms. E. I'm sorry. I'm not so sure about this. Oh, look. D's here. Maybe he's done this before."
I run outside and approach the pest control guy. He services our home as well, so we are on a first name basis.
"Hey, D." How do you feel about getting Ms. E's cat into her crate??"
"Sure. I'll do it."
Oh my goodness, thank you!! I sigh in relief and wait inside for him to come do the task I was asked to do. Buck passer that I am!
As promised D comes in, picks up Bella incorrectly and attempts to place her in the crate. Bella freaks out, starts hissing, clawing and meowing tragically. She breaks loose and darts until the couch. All the while Ms. E is lecturing D about the proper way to pick up a cat and my boys are laughing and getting in the way. At this point, I feel terrible for passing on my duties.
I send them outside. With stooped should they obey, step outside the door and press their faces up against the glass.
The three of us remaining, continue to coerce the highly agitated kitty back out. D is now on all fours, Ms. E is overseeing and I'm standing awkwardly with the cat cage.
Bella darts out, escapes in between us and heads to one of the back rooms. One of my boys decided that he could come in now, which agitates poor Ms. E.
"Outside boys!!, she hollers."
He runs back out. In the meantime, it sounds like man and cat are in an epic battle and neither Ms. E or myself can tell who is winning. We hear one long, horrid cat growl and then all is quiet. D emerges from the back room with a triumphant smile on his face. Bella is angrily crouched at the back of the carrier, but is safe and unharmed.
I clap and cheer. Thank goodness he was there!! He hands me the cage and Ms. E smiles.
"Alright, Chrissy. Take her over to your house. We will need to hang there for the next couple of hours."
"Ok. Let's go."
I say goodbye, extend my gratitude to D once again and the four of us head back over to my house. There the boys invited Ms. E to watch Narnia, while I finished up what I was working on.
I couldn't help but smile when I heard Ms. E periodically bust out laughing, (it sounds something akin to a cackle!) followed by giggles from the boys. She's one tough cookie! 83 years old, has only one hand and has been widowed twice. However, she is always smiling, she drives, volunteers at the veterans clinic, cooks for others and she will tell you that she is a walking miracle. We are blessed to know her!
Until next time, my friends!
Chrissy
