Friday Favorites: All About The "Firsts"

These last couple of months contain a lot of "firsts" or "my first since...". We had our first house guests of the summer season. I have my first high school graduate to process through. We went to our first restaurant since everything closed down. You get the idea. Today's post is all about the "firsts" I hope you!

First House Guests & Grad
Right after the governor of Florida started opening up the state we received a call from my in-laws. They were coming and they were coming the following week! Oh and would I be able to get my sweet MIL a hair appointment? She is so cute! Not only was she able to get a hair cut, but we also got our toes done, went clothing shopping, and spent a morning at the beach!

In addition, we celebrated my first born's graduation with P.F. Chang's takeout and a Nothing Bundt Cake (c/o my sweet momma)!

Bathing Suit "First"
During Target's B1G1 sale on sandals and suits, I purchased this romper for days when I didn't want to care. I ordered two sizes because you never know. Well, this pretty lady decided to try on my other size and she loved the suit as much as I did. This was the first time I've worn the same bathing suit as my mother in law. And it gets even better! The week after my inlaws came to stay our dear friends from Georgia came and guess what? My friend, Amy, also purchased the same suit!!!! I had to laugh...

As for the bathing suit, it's a lot of material for a swimsuit but it is so comfortable. The romper style with a hem that goes up on the sides, is so flattering. I love it and wish they made this in more than black or navy. Side note, the navy keeps selling out!

Out To Eat!
When our friend's came to town we ventured out to a local restaurant for a sit-down meal since March. What a luxury! The food was delicious and the company was wonderful. Can you tell that the dessert was my favorite part of the meal??

First Influencer Course
I took my first Influencer Course with LadyBossBlogger. It's been enlightening and engaging while giving me a good dose of reality. Like anything else you must be prepared to follow through on what you learn. Knowledge is useless when not applied, right? For a brief overview of what I've learned so far hop on over HERE and HERE.

My First Dry Shampoo - In Powder Form
This week I shared about a non-toxic, clean beauty dry shampoo that I ended up loving. My hair is so fine that most sprays weigh it down instead of adding volume. So to find a dry shampoo that fits my clean beauty standard AND works makes me very excited!

If I remember, I add this in at night for even better results!

I hadn't washed my hair in three days and I had not yet styled it. However, I did put some makeup on for you. ;)
First Experience With Crunchi Clean Beauty
While the outside world was shut down the internet was a very busy place. I saw lots of promotions, sales, etc but there was one investment I deliberated over for a couple of weeks. To invest in non-toxic makeup or not? I chose to invest and am happy to say there's almost a full line of Crunchi in my bathroom. I'll share more on the blog because I decided to advocate for the company and treat it like I do any collaboration. This means I'll only share what I love and you won't be receiving random messages in your inbox. I look forward to sharing favorites with you as I continue to test out favorites!

First Bible Study Gathering
For the last year, I had the opportunity to co-lead Bible study with a fabulous group of college girls. We do homework during the week and then meet up to discuss what we've learned. We were so excited to have our first gathering since March!  Zoom is NOT the same!

Before I close my brief post on some of my spring/summer "firsts", I want to share this quote taken from a this study on Romans we finished. Though I've read Romans several times, this was my first completed study. I was surprised at how this book, written so many years ago, is relevant to what is happening now.  I am reminded on a regular basis that there's hope. I hope because of the good news of the Gospel.

And one morning while feeling particularly weighed down, I flipped the page to find this quote:

"God's plans are not thwarted by the events that take place...God uses them to bring about His plan."

How relevant is that?? I've never seen events such as these and I'd go crazy if I thought this world was the best life had for me. How encouraged I am to be reminded that God is not asleep. In fact, if you dig you can find videos of good things happening around our country and across the globe. In addition, many of us are waking up to injustices that are not being talked about as much (starting with human trafficking, specifically young children). There's hope and this hope doesn't lie in the incredibly limited resources and power of humans. Have a blessed weekend and week!

  2. I love that swim romper! It looks terrific on all 3 of you, how fun! We haven't been out to eat with friends yet but I hope we will soon. I am afraid Orange County will start putting more restrictions in place because the cases are seriously rising.
And how awesome that you got to see your bible study group - beautiful women!

  3. Darling bathing suit on all 3 of you. Your toesies look great, too!
Just as we moved toward loosening things up a little around here, the city council decided to make masks mandatory again. One step forward...two steps back.
How fun that you could get together with your Bible study gals. I haven't done anything like that in so long. Would like to find a good Bible study group here.

  6. Chrissy, I love everything about this post! I am smiling for days. The photos of you and your mother in law are so wonderful! You have such a beautiful family all the way around. I love the romper swim suit and that last quote really hit home today...There is an enormous plan in action in my life right now. I don't have any idea what it is, but the shifting of some things in my life currently feels kind of like an earthquake. I know it is already planned and certain things are happening for very specific reasons. I am just still clueless as to what it all means. I am trusting the process, but the emotions are hard and they are raw! Anyway, now I am rambling on much too long in your comment section, my friend! I adore you and the light that you shine into the world! Thanks for linking up this post with me.
