Camo Is King: The Trend That Keeps On Living

If I had any doubt as to whether or not camo is continuing to trend, this week's mail circulars put an end to them. From head to toe, camo is featured on both men and women, young and old. Each season I wonder if this is the one where I have to pack up my collected camo. Not yet, my dears, not yet! For this reason, I think a camo highlight is in order.

Go For The Jacket or Blazer!

I picked up this blazer on clearance at Lucky Brand in Austin, Texas last year and it's been on repeat since - weather permitting of course. Durn Florida!  Surprisingly, and yet not a surprise, it goes with just about everything I own. I've layered over dresses as well as tops. And don't fear those prints because camo loves flowers and stripes and much as we do.

Linen & Camo, Community & The Style 6 Link Up

Hello. It's spring break, but it's not a typical spring break is it? I know these days are unsure. Schools, restaurants, and store fronts are closing, while churches are choosing not to hold services. It feels so weird. I'm grateful for our health and pray for the health of others as well as the effect these closings have on businesses and their employees.

I'm also grateful for this blogging community. I want to hear how things are near you. Do you know someone personally that's infected with the COVID-19 virus? Are you fearful? Angry? I think we can share each others burdens, while lightning the mood when we can. The momentary distraction is a blessing.  This community is an encouragement and I'm thankful for each and every one of you.

That being said, in addition to this dress, I'm sharing a few things involving community today!

3 Ways To Wear: A Floral & Camo Mix

Hello! Do recognize a pattern with my Style Six Fashion posts? Coincidentally, I'm featuring "3 Ways To Wear..." every other week. Do you enjoy this or should I stick to one look per post? I'd love to hear your thoughts. ;) In the meantime, today's post features three looks with a camo and floral mix. One look I've featured before, but since it inspired my second look I decided to share it again.

Seamless Print Styling: Camo, Snakeskin, Stripes & Leopard

Ponce City Market

Hello! While on an Alaskan adventure of a lifetime with my sister, I had the opportunity to meet Nicole at High Latitude Style! After meeting the unassuming, stylish and sweet Nicole, I've continued to follow along with her blog, appreciating her insightful tips in fashion. I wish we could meet in Alaska again, but for today I'll content myself with the privilege to cohost her weekly link up, Top of the World Style!

Nicole does not fit in a fashion box, boldly mixing prints and colors even before it became trendy to do so! For that reason, I thought I'd feature as many print mixes in my outfit as possible! I hope you will join us in linking up! :)

Shop Your Closet For Valentine's Attire: Starting With Atypical

When I think of Valentine's attire I imagine vivid reds, soft pinks, and of course hearts - not so much blues and certainly not camoflouage. However, when your closet is your most shopped store, you go with what you have and get creative - even if it is blue! This is how the Blue heart sweater from the Limited becomes my inspiration for an atypical outfit to wear for the Valentine "season". How did I end up with camo and a hat? Come on, I'll tell you all about it.

The Print I Can't Stop Wearing

Nevah, will I ev-ah wear...How many times have you said that, only to eat your words some time later. Hand raise. I certainly didn't intend to ever wear capris and yet there I was sporting capris with the rest of them. With the exception of the all out slipper style shoe, I'm not sure there's a trend I'll swear off till I at least try it. However, I can say there's a print I'd like to believe I'll never STOP wearing.  Yes, you guessed it - camo! Happily joining the Blended Blog for their Wednesday link up in: "Never Will I Ever".

Racerback Tank Goes Smashingly With Camo

Surprise packages in the mail are positively delightful and when said package is a soft, adorable pink tee one might instantaneously be inspired to pair said tee with a camo skirt. And that my friends is exactly what transpired for me last week.

Ok. Enough of my silliness. In all seriousness, I had no sooner finished lamenting the need for cooler tops when this cutie arrived. What a welcome break from all the junk mail we continue to receive since moving!

I opened the box and smiled at the message from home. Sweet tokens of thoughtfulness - I can learn so much from people like that! Why is it so difficult for me to get packages sent out?? I have items that live in my closet awaiting their destiny in another home...

Thrifted Moto Boots, Cardigans & More

Hello, hello.  Though December is upon us, fall lingers in Georgia with temps in the 60s and leaves stubbornly clinging to the trees. I love days like this; sunshine and slight breezes requiring nothing more than a cozy cardigan for my outer layer. Soon the cold will come, so I'll embrace these moments by stopping in between the busy schedule to check out a new blog spot. Haha. But seriously!

Pumped Up Kicks & Two Dresses

Hello my reader friends! What a joy it is for me to share life and style with you here on the blog, and of course see yours as well. Today I'm featuring a mix of athleisure and edgy, which are a couple of my favorites.

Dress 1: Camo Fun

This t-shirt dress is soft and it has pockets. I mean, really. Camo? Soft Fabric? Pockets? Roomy? What else do I need and can I complain about anything while wearing it? Ok, I will say that without my cutoff leggings underneath (I cut off a pair of black leggings for the perfect bicycle short fit!), I would feel vulnerable to breezes, sitting and entering or exiting a vehicle. That being said, I put those leggings on and went about my day, knowing that my underwear was safely hidden from the public; as it should be. ;)

As far as these Adidas kicks go, they are now my favorite casual sneaker.  I can't stop envisioning all the outfits I can wear them with! This morning I woke up and thought about a black and white stripe dress that it would be fun to sport them with. What is wrong with me??? I picked up these shoes, along with the wedges I recently featured at Rack Room Shoes. Their BOGO half off sale is going on, which I couldn't resist knowing that a gift card was waiting to be used in my wallet.

It goes without saying that these sneakers are comfortable and I love the leather look of them.

My mood was adventurous and I kept grabbing for more accessories to layer with this outfit.

Choker. Ouu, I like that. Let's see, how about some hematite thrown in? Oh yeah. Wait, I think I can add in a longer pop of silver. Finito!

The bracelet and the necklaces are apart of my new collection, so I couldn't wait to sport them. I love the mixed, hammered medals with a touch of femininity in the the sparkly stones. Yes I called them sparkly stones. It's also nice to have a thicker wrap that draws the attention to the smallest part of my body, like an arm party, without the work of an arm party!

Dress 2: Chambray Classic

Here's the other dress I styled these shoes with...

I love this classic chambray dress, which has been featured on the blog with a dressier look (check that out here).  This style came together quickly and easily, for an errands kind of day. There had been no time to wash and style my hair, so the cap was a no brainer!

Ok, if you made it this far, I will close with a little bit of silly cuteness. The cuteness is from my boys of course. ;)

We survived our first week of homeschool so I thought we should celebrate with iced coffee for mom and cupcakes for the boys!

Yes! We still go to splat! My year of free cupcakes isn't over yet!

Have a wonderful day!!

Get Those Camo Pants Out of the Fall Clothes!

This week has been a whirlwind of crazy. Summer time at our church means a lot of children and student events.  Vacation Bible Camp is one of our biggest events, hosting over 1000 children!! Wowza! It takes a lot of prayer, planning, resources and man power to make it all happen. Every year the theme changes; from Amazing Space to Power Up, you never know how it will all come together, but of course it does. There's even a paren't breakfast with fruit, biscuits, donuts yogurt and coffee (all the coffee was donated by a company that is going to open up in our city - yay! Tradewinds Coffee Co.)  for those dropping off their children, if they are feeling a little hungry.

This year I've been assigned to the drama team and I love it.  My character "Chrissy, Player #2" is a scientist with an accent that ranges from Hispanic, to Russian or maybe even Italian. Yeah. I won't quit my day job!  Our fun begins at 8 a.m. and ends around 12:30. That's only 4 and a half hours, but somehow you feel as if you pulled an all nighter when you get done. My age must be showing.

Of course there is more to share, but I'll leave some news for my next posts. Besides my brain has short circuited twice since I started writing this post! So before, it's total mush let's talk about this simple, but fun outfit, and how I managed to find time to run up to Splat to nab that free cupcake.

On a whim, I pulled these camo pants out of my fall clothes storage and I'm so glad I did. I've worn them twice already- once casual and once dressed up a bit.

For the first outfit, I pulled my #bloglife tank out to match my coral colored toe nails and chaco sandals.  It was easy and comfortable!

Outfit Breakdown:
Top: Old Navy (sister screen printed)/Pants: LOFT (Latest Pair at LOFT,  Similar at Target), Chacos (Similar On Sale)/Jewelry (Premier Designs)

Outfit 2

I wore one of my latest linen tanks and added pops of pink with my bag and scarf.  The only newer items in this outfit are the top, the necklace and the bag! Another example of mixing old with new.

Jumping Java - Oh, So Delicious!

Jumping Java goes to this friend for a Happy Belated Birthday!

A pic she sent me from an outing her and her husband were on. I love it when friends text me and say, "We're at Splat! Where are you?"

Ok! That's all for today my friends.

Camo Pocket Dress

Pocket Dress: Entourage Clothing/Purse: Clarks/Shades: Costco/ Jewelry: Premier Designs

Up close view from my recent snapchat story of this fun necklace and earrings:

A little accessory change up...

And in case you're a fan of big, crazy hair...

Pocket Dress: Entourage Clothing/ Shoes & Vest: Marissa Jill's Boutique/Jewelry: Premier Designs

I love this dress! The soft, flowy fabric, roomy fit and pockets give it a sublime rating in comfort. And hello! It's camo! How fun is that?!

So where did I find this lovely dress? I thought you'd never ask.

This past winter I had another opportunity to meet Elizabeth Herrin, corporate stylist for Entourage Clothing (also known as Mz Savvy Style, a blog I've followed for some time now). She was our guest speaker for a fashion & style event that a friend of mine put together. After hearing her share tips, secrets and encouragement we devised a plan to visit her at the local boutique in Athens.  My friend worked hard to get a girl's outing on the calendar so we were excited when the day finally arrived.

Side note: Did you know that each Entourage store has an onsite stylist to assist you with your selections? Tori was "our" onsite stylist, and helped me get into trouble with another outfit, which I am saving for my next post!

Back to the dress...Was I in the market for a camouflage dress? No. In fact, with the arrival of spring and the new floral trends my sights were set on a floral dress. However, once I tried this one on, the rich green tones enticed me and I was sold.  I must also mention that I was highly encouraged by said group.  Oh, I also tried on a camo tee and realized I was getting carried away. No worries, the tee found it's home with this cutie. ----->>>>

Well that's all for today my reader friends. I look forward to sharing my second outing and I proudly give photo credit (for actual outfit shots) to my friend and aspiring photographer Courtney Roulain. Check out her IG page @courtney.elizabeth.photo! We made great memories that day being silly and chatting over lunch. Can't wait to do it again. :)
