Style Six Link Up: Red, White & Blue Part 2

Hello! As I mentioned in Monday's Red, White, Blue and YOU post, I had styled two looks for this star print, patriotic tank from Amazon Prime. The first look I shared (HERE) was perfect for the beach, backyard barbecue, etc. Today's look would work for those as well (maybe not the beach), but I'd also go on a casual lunch or dinner date in this one!

Bermuda Shorts & Button Ups

 I said I wasn't going to do it.

"Bermuda shorts aren't flattering on me."

Well, once again I've proven to myself that sometimes it's about the cut, make and fit, over the style or trend. And so the story goes while I was out shopping holiday sales with my MIL. We popped into Lucky and quickly found cute tops to try on. However, I was in a dress and would need some bottoms. Of course, this is where the Bermuda shorts come into play.  My choices were the shorty shorts or these. I grabbed these with no expectation to like them.

So, welcome to today's post featuring the Bermuda shorts that I wasn't supposed to like, as well as my latest top from H&M. And since my MIL tried on these same short, I thought she should make another guest appearance on the blog.

Red, White, Blue & You: All Things Patriotic Link Up

When I think of the 4th of July, of course I think of our country's independence, but from there I move on to all the summer sentiments. From childhood on, the 4th makes me feel like summer is in full effect. There's barbecues to be had, country music to listen to, vacations to reflect on, family and friends to laugh with. So in a sense I feel as if I'm celebrating with gratitude as I'm indescribably grateful to be alive and share moments with those I love.

All that being said, today's post is going to be a conglomeration of fashion and sentiment with a few other miscellaneous goodies for this fabulous "Red, White, Blue & You LINK UP with some sweet blogger friends. Memorial day is quickly approaching and for those down south, so is the last day of school. With four boys in attendance at two different schools, our schedule is hectic to say the least. This week we say se la vie to 1st grade, 6th grade and 8th grade. And yes, that means I officially joined the parents of a high schooler club. Aren't I too young for this? What happened to the little monkey I used to chase around the family room? Ah no. I need to move on before this lighthearted post becomes a weeping mom's memoir.

Let's talk about lighter things, like I don't know, clothes. What are your Memorial day plans? Will you be camping, barbecuing, boating or picnicking? Do you enjoy dressing for the occasion in your patriotic colors, or will you be sporting the classic cut off shorts and a t-shirt?

This ensemble made its' debut at our end of the year "Share Day" for CBS Bible study. I don't know that I'll be wearing this exact outfit, but maybe a variation of it. Both the skirt and the top are by LuLaRoe, which I purchased at a friend's pop up boutique. I've enjoyed shopping for new clothes, while supporting a friend at the same time. I leave with cute, comfortable clothing and she has some extra money in her pocket to help pay bills. Win, Win.

By the way, this year we are hitting the road for a beach vacation with 17 of my family members (we will miss you Paul, Jess and Kesler!!!!). My boys are excited to spend time with their cousins and I'm excited to read with the sound of the ocean filling my senses. :)

Here's a bonus for you...

I haven't given up trying to learn to accompany myself with the guitar just yet. Admittedly, I do put it down for periods of time when I get discouraged or busy. However, I keep trudging along with this hobby. It's humbling. Mostly humbling, but there are times when it's very rewarding. This was one of those times. I'm so grateful to CBS for investing in me spiritually and even musically.
