Red, White & Black & Christmas Tree Adventures

Hello my dear friends! It's the day after Christmas and my heart is full. We had a wonderful time engaging in our yearly traditions and even added new ones here and there. Some traditions had to go on hold due to a crazy schedule. No worries! We will get out and see those Christmas light this week! From Christmas Eve to the close of Christmas day our time was well spent with loved ones, whether it was at our home or us popping into their homes. Of course I ate too much and will have to return to my Granola ways SOON, but not til all these leftovers are polished off.

Today I'm sharing the simple outfit I wore to church on Christmas Eve. This is a look that makes me think of winter and Christmas. Admittedly, I put no extra thought into what I would wear - eek! Thankfully, when all was said and done I liked the outcome because there was no time for changes.

It began with the reversible vest I have on repeat lately and grew from there. I shopped my closet for hand-me-downs, clearance finds and finished off the look with some of my favorite accessories. The oxford was given to me by my mother in law, as was the reversible vest. The skirt was a LOFT clearance purchase from 4 years ago and the fabulous shoes were purchased at a warehouse sale with my fellow fashion aficionado and friend, Heather.

Well my friends, I close with the wrap up of my silly Christmas tree tradition! Do you have a silly tradition?? I'd love to hear, as I love to hear from YOU. You make blogging fun and worthwhile.

***Christmas Trees & Cupcake Adventures***

My friends! I'm happy to wrap up my Christmas Tree and Cupcake Adventures. (See the start here and here.) How did I choose one place from the next? Well, most stops were already apart of our daily life and calendar. The rest may have been an invite or two. ;)

Cupcakes, coffee and conversation. With my friend Joanna (pictured on the right) I can always count on good coffee and great, thought provoking conversation. I supplied the cupcake (ok, Splat did) of course. Pictured on the left is Joybelle, Joanna's adorable sister.

What a privilege it was to go with this Classical Conversation community group to sing Christmas carols at a nursing home in a nearby town. My heart swelled and overflowed, as I watched these kiddos smile, laugh, sing and pass out cupcakes for those sweet people.

A quick visit to see Evan and Caden's 2nd grade teacher from last year was a request from them I happily obliged. They loved Ms. Heu and had fun seeing her 2nd grade class for this year.

Here we are at the very Splat Cakes & Such itself! It was their Polar Express day, where I had the honor of reading to the boys and girls that came! What a joy to see their smiling faces and excited expressions. Before reading, all the children decorated sugar cookies with an abundance of frosting!

A sweet group of friends that I'm going through the book Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of the Woman's Soul by John & Stasi Eldredge. It's a light read that is prompting great conversation amongst the four of us.

The lovely Peyton, who is a special friend of my oldest son. ;) Her momma wasn't feeling well when I picked up Ethan, so she got the cupcake...

My fabulous and fun friend, Mandy...she's a big supporter of my goofball ways.

This one. Kyle and Sarah. Friends. Fellow cohorts in all things crazy. I just love their zest for life and adventure. I may have added this one for my very own amusement.

Christmas Eve at our church of over 20 years!!!

  1. Well you look lovely in your Christmas Eve outfit - I love the red vest and crisp white blouse, the black skirt, tights, and heels look perfect for such a special night! I'm chuckling a bit at your Christmas Day pic - my oldest son wore a Dunder Miflin tee too, lol! Since school got out so late we had to postpone alot of our Christmas traditions too but this week we'll make up for it I hope!

    1. Thank you Kellyann. :) Funny little story about that tee. We ordered the Dunder Mifflin tee for my eldest and meanwhile he had ordered the same shirt for my hubby. In addition, my brother has one. Guess they will have to get a picture together now! OK, happy to know that we are not the only ones celebrating traditions a little late!
