Tunic Top & Food for Thought...

Bright sunshine and coated skinny jeans, a beautiful combination. Actually bright sunshine goes great with everything. It illuminates your skins natural glow, infuses us with vitamin D and adds cheer to the soul. Now I know we need that rain from time to time; it helps appreciate that sunshine all the more, while giving us, well, water. ;) Happy Monday, my friends! This is what you get today. And this fun outfit of course.

Have you seen The Greatest Showman? That's me reaching up to the skies. Admittedly, I went to the theaters twice to view this musical rolled into a movie. The first time was with my mother and the second time I dragged all of my boys to see it. Guess what? They all loved it. The movie has a sweet, inspiring message and GREAT music. I was enthralled and left pondering my own dreams. Of course I had to purchase the soundtrack and we drove my 15 year old crazy with the constant repeat of it.

But I couldn't help myself. Doing dishes while singing "Come Alive" is far more entertaining. Sweeping and singing "cuz I'm dreaming with my eyes wide open", makes me feel like having a clean floor is apart of my dreams. Every task can be full of meaning! It builds to something else. It produces a result.

Cross Necklace was a gift from a friend.
After the sweeping is done, the melody continues to play in my mind and I drag my hubby outside and ask for more pictures to keep this blogging dream alive. And he sweetly obliges.

"I think I like this outfit. Can you take my picture real quick?"

Rephrase that. Can you take several pictures for the next twenty minutes or so???

OUTFIT DETAILS

The outfit is documented. The coated skinny jeans make another appearance (see how I dressed them up here), while the stonewash tunic makes a first appearance here on the blog. This stonewash top is yet another great find from Corrie LeeAnn's Facebook group. I love her passion for encouraging and uplifting women. Recently she's added Plunder jewelry, as well as health and beauty aspects. Last week she featured a friend and hair stylist on a live video teaching us how to add more volume to our hairstyle. I applied what I learned the very next day! You can check out her page here.

The long cardigan was a nice, warming touch for the chilly day and I was in the mood for a hat. I kept the accessories simple with a few bracelets and a choker...

Wrap Bracelet/Cleo Earrings
...yes, another choker hack my friends. This is simply a wrap bracelet, which I wrapped around my neck a couple of times. Done.

Outfit Breakdown:

Hat: Altar'd State (last year's clearance)/Cardigan: American Eagle (Old)/Tunic Top: Corrie LeeAnns Online Boutique/Jeans: White House Black Market (Coated Skinny Utility)/"Choker": Premier (It's A Wrap)/Suede Bracelet: Premier (Earth Angel)/Stretch Bracelet: Premier (BFF Set)/Earrings: Premier (CLEO)Ankle Boots: Target: OLD (Similar Option)

Where did I go in these duds?

Our church now has a girl's ministry and it's run by the fabulous gal, Lizzie (pictured above), sharing why she feels like it's important for girls - young and old - to unite. She supported her statements with truths from the book of Ruth in the Bible. I remember when Lizzie was in high school, which made me feel both old and proud. What a beautiful, mature young woman she is!

She invited my friend, Sarah and I, who are just a few years older (wink. wink) to share our stories in order to connect with this younger generation, to let them know we are there to support them and to be available if they ever need a listening ear.

I'm passionate about sharing my story...it's one of my favorite things to do, especially with young women. They need to know they are valued, beautiful, wonderfully made and that God has big things in store for them, regardless of what others may tell them. We are bombarded with negative messages today. We are drowning in the lies of comparison and fighting to be relevant in an ever changing, fast paced world of modern technology.

"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up..." I Thess 5:11

We are all going to have bad days, filled with self-doubt, pain, uncertainty, etc. However, those days don't have to be without hope. There is always hope. Hope in love. You are loved by the God of love; the creator of love. And with February on the horizon, it's a perfect time to spend a few extra moments on LOVE. ;)

"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I Corinthians 13:13"

I could share so much more, but this post is getting quite lengthy. You know I welcome your thoughts or questions on anything! ;)

Sarah and I just being ourselves...
Have a wonderful Monday my friends!

Much LOVE,

Chrissy

  3. Oh sweet Chrissy, what an inspiration you must have been to all those young women! We've been going to the same church for 22 years and it's funny because one of our pastors was in elementary school when we joined the church. Now he's married with 2 kids - ha!
I will be the last person on the planet to see The Greatest Showman! My husband is not interested in muscials and I have no one to go with - boo! I keep hearing how wonderful it is though. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for it t be released to rent!
Have a wonderful day beautiful friend!
