A Homeschool Field Trip to SeaWorld Orlando

My, my doesn't the time pass quickly before our unseeing eyes? Back in August I looked over our homeschool field trip schedule and stopped at March's event - SeaWorld for only $29 a ticket! SeaWorld invites students from homeschool, private or public school to come and learn about the mysterious and captivating ocean at a deep discount. I love most theme parks so I added this one to the calendar!  Now someone explain how this day already came and went?? If you're planning a trip to Orlando, you may want to add SeaWorld to your itinerary. It's a place I've visited since childhood and our recent trip felt like a walk down memory lane...

It's the throwback that throws me way back...the day became an adventure riddled with nostalgia and new memories as soon as I entered the gate. I could almost see my siblings and I rushing to the next show; my mom keeping up, wearing her bright neon yellow socks (funny the things you remember). I could see us all laughing at the Clyde and Seamore show and before I knew it the memories sped forward to when my own family returned as a family of four. .

My eldest experienced his first roller coaster ride on The Kraken and I was his riding buddy. His excitement turned to fear as we moved closer to the coaster. A recording replayed over and over, but all I remember is “Enjoy THE KRAKEN!” My boys’ eyes doubled in size but there was no going back. As the ride began, his fear escalated before changing to pure delight and squeals. This brings tears to my eyes because they grow up so fast.

Meanwhile on our current trip, my eldest wasn’t able to go due to work scheduling, but he was close to my heart for sure. And once again I was riding buddy to three others, two of which were experiencing their first major roller coasters. We rode the Kraken, the Manta and the Mako repeatedly, though I admit I was the scared one this time. Oh, if I could package every squeal, every comedic remark and the smiles that could light up the world!!

It was a great day my friends. My in-laws were in town visiting and were able to join us. After the required educational demonstration and show at Shamu Stadium, with the entrancing "magnificient beasts" (as referred to by my MIL), my boys made a beeline for those aforementioned coasters!

Educational Show

Roller Coasters...You know that was the plan all along! My in-laws were troopers, taking in sights while waiting for their grandkids to finish experiencing thrills of a life time. My friends, I was scared to return to my childhood on the coasters but I did and I loved it. The Manta, Kraken and Mako - Orlando's tallest, fastest and longest coaster - were my favorites. I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard on those coasters! However, with no desire to get wet I left the water rides to the boys.

While they rode water rides, I amused myself by taking pictures of swag items from the blog conference I keep referring to, as well as making IG stories. Do you follow me on Insta yet? I'd love to connect with you there!

Keeping My self hydrated with Hydrant
Found this drinkable yogurt at Costco and loved it!

Oh, and we did go walk through the aquarium, visit the beluga whales, which are beautiful and enjoyed the dolphin show, as well as the silly, entertaining Clyde and Seamore show.

Ok! Happy start to a new week! I love hearing from you and your comments make my day!

    1. It's only crazy if you live right by it. lol. Life is busy and there's plenty to fill our times, right? I do hope you're able to get out for a visit though. But don't go when it gets too hot. It's harder to enjoy the scenery when you feel like you're melting!

  2. How fun, Chrissy! Could I please get an invite for the next homeschool adventure?? I know what you mean about riding roller coasters with your kids. Last May when we took Alise to Disney, I had THE BEST time riding roller coasters with her! It was so much fun! Glad y'all had such a great day in Sunny Sea World!

  5. First off let me say, you have the cutest kids. Not sure if I have seen pics before. Sure didn't realize you are homeschooling...or with this 60 year old mind, maybe I just forgot. Great field trip, mama! Love the expression on your face in the photo from the Mako ride.
Can't imagine how you manage all that you do. You modern moms are amazing. I am always in awe. Homework about buried me...not sure how you do the teaching, too! Bravo!!

    1. Why thank you Leslie! And the homework is pretty much the homeschool work. I have a curriculum group that I follow and their math is done on the computer, which is what would sink me if I didn't have it!! And I don't always manage well. I have to step back often b/c my priorities get all out of whack! I hope you have a great day! And do you have a blog Leslie? When I click on your name it says "no longer available".

  6. Oh what a fun day out! It's nice that they offer discounted tickets. I cant' wait until my boys are old enough to go on the roller coasters! My eldest was tall enough to ride a kids coaster when we went to the theme park last year and his reactions were the best!

I just love how much there is to see and do in theme parks - I think this year we will need to get them an annual pass for Christmas! :)

Hope your week is off to a good start! It's been a good one here, enjoying the cooler autumn weather which is a change from the humidity! :)

    1. Yes! That's a price we can more easily afford! And your boys will be there before you know it! Week is going well, we had out of town guests that left yesterday morning so the boys and I cleaned and did school. We hated saying goodbye but it was nice to get some semblance of order going on.

  7. Who looks good in a picture on Mako? YOU. Holy cow - what a great shot! Y'all had a wonderful trip and I am so glad your inlaws were here to go with you, what a fun day! I enjoy Sea World so much more than the other theme parks. It's much more chill. Our field trip is in May and our students love it - they get to meet their teachers in person!!!

    1. haha Kellyann! you truly are a gem - a funny one at that! I think that's why my in laws could hack SeaWorld - laid back. I worried about them a time or two, but they said that had a great time more than once.

  8. I'm so glad you are able to share all of the pleasant experiences with your family. You couldn't get me on a roller coaster any more. I'm so glad you were a great sport and had fun with the boys. It looks like you had the perfect day, too.

    1. Me too! It's been so sweet. Funny, how leaving Georgia felt so scary because we didn't know what was down the road, but there's been plenty of fun adventures for sure. My older boys are still struggling but I continue to pray for good friends for them!
