The Coated Skinny Jeans Saga

Hello blog world! I have so much important news meaningless outfit drivel to chat with you about! Has that hooked you in? ;) Now where do I start??  What to focus on??? Ok. I'm going to break it all down and hope you enjoy! You're the best my friends and you make blogging a thrilling adventure!

The COAT

We will start with the simple outfit details beginning with the coat. It's old and I'd like to get a trench, but until then I make do because we live in Georgia, where owning several jackets is not practical.  Once upon a time, there was an Eddie Bauer store in our mall but sadly it closed. I loved their selection of outerwear, sweaters, etc. As you can see the quality of their clothing is great. This jacket is probably 10 years old! Hey! At least is it has some fur trim around the collar to make me feel like I'm current. ;)

THE CARDIGAN

Do you recognize this cardigan? I found it at one of my favorite online shopping sites - Corrie LeeAnns. She has her own website, but most of the fun, aka live videos featuring, sales, chats about jewelry and fashion, etc, happen in her Facebook Group. Give her a follow - she has a great eye for style and is super sweet!

THE TURTLENECK

The striped turtle neck is new. I snatched it up while Christmas shopping for my boys in GAP. They had an incredible sale going on and I was in the market for a striped tee. It's currently on sale now if you hop on over!

THE COATED SKINNIES & MY QUICK WEIGHT GAIN SAGA

I love these skinnies, though I must admit that our journey together had a rough start. In a previous post, I mentioned finding a pair of coated skinny jeans at WHBM that were so flattering AND comfortable. You know I love my comfort. I walked out of the store that day with jeans in bag, but soon returned them because I felt I had paid too much.

Fast forward to the week of Thanksgiving. I'm out on a yearly shopping tradition with my mother-in-law and SIL and of course we stop in the House. The entire store is on sale so I try on my skinnies again. Hmmm. A little less give, but no matter I can close them and they still look great.
My MIL gifts the jeans and they travel back to Georgia to find their new home in my closet. Soon the night arrives when I will wear my black skinnies to a style event I was participating in.

Slipping one leg in at a time, I begin to pull up my coated skinnies, noting that hike up is not as smooth as it once was. Man! I get to my derrière and I wonder if someone switched out my pants with a smaller size as a joke. I tug, pull, grunt and pant before getting my pants around my waist, only to find that there was no way I was getting this pair of coated, black skinnies buttoned. There was no time to consider my predicament so I quickly reached for my elastic, stretchy waist leggings and headed out the door.

Since that coming to reality evening, I've tried the pants on 3 or more times with no change. I simply had to go for the next size up. Well guess what? The next size up was too big. However, they now had the same style skinny in the color grey as well, which had more give. I tried them on and hallelujah - they fit!

And so my friends, I give you the GREY coated skinnies.

As far as the weight gain goes, I am addressing that but I'm not obsessing. There is no time for obsessing!!
THE ACCESSORIES

Have you hung in there this far??? Then I wrap up this post with the frosting to my cupcake,  the cream to my coffee  - the accessories. How about these snakeskin shoes that I clopped around in for two days in a row?!  I know! Ms. Casual is breaking loose! I found these on a Chicos warehouse shopping adventure with my fellow fashionista friend, Heather. They were $6. Yes! Another pair of $6 heels. I just don't have it in my budget to splurge on heels. My shoe money needs to go to the practical, so I take full advantage of the warehouse sales.

The purse came home with me the other day from DSW. Yes, I finally used my gift card from my birthday. I stacked that card with a $10 coupon and only had to fork over $5 in cash. Yay!

That just leaves my old scarf and my jewelry. Did I mention I wore this outfit 2 days in a row? Guilty. So for fun I changed out my accessories. Pearls and a scarf, gold watch and bracelets to no scarf and bronze pieces the next day.

THE CAT

Wait, what??!! I was just seeing if you're still with me. By the way, look how thrilled Shelke is. She totally loves me!

WILD OATS

Wild Oats is my favorite cupcake. I may like it more than I like Pumpkin Spice. GASP!! How is that possible?! Sadly, it's not a customer fave because most to choose to try it. Well, I'm thinking of some silly ways to campaign for my favorite flavor so Splat will keep it on the menu you for February. Stay tuned for those adventures!

Well, that's all my friends!! Which accessory style did you prefer? The pearls and scarf or the bronze  statement and glasses style? I love to hear from you! :)

Much love!

  1. OH my gosh you are too cute. I have had that same probably with someone trying to swap out my pant sizes ;) These last few pounds have got to go, but are stubborn things and just make my pants slightly uncomfortable, ya know?

  2. Oh friend, where to begin? I'm with you about the weight gain right down to not obsessing about it. Life is getting back to normal so hopefully my weight will! A few of my jeans barely button and I swear if a button pops someone is losing an eye!
Now, in other news, I love your coat - it is a classic and there's no need to spend a ton of money on a coat. A trench is a classic too so if you find a deal you better snag it.
I need to shop with you because I want $6 shoes and you seem to be the queen. That purse was a steal too - you go girl with stacking coupons and discounts, you are my kind of shopper!
But you are just such a beautiful lady and your light shines so bright my friend!

  3. You're killing me over all of these cupcakes! LOL! I love those coated skinnies on you and I've had the same problem where something will just barely not fit and then in the size up its WAY too big... so frustrating. Glad the gray color worked like a charm!

    1. Haha! Believe me they are killing this gal too. I'm glad I'm not alone with being in between sizes and I'm glad the grey worked out as well. I have a feeling I'll be wearing them a lot!

  4. I love these skinny cords. They are really unique and look like they'd be a fun wear! I think every year I go through the whole weight gain thing because Christmas and all the tastes that come with it. Everything pumpkin, chocolate or cookies gets consumed. Haha!

  6. I wouldn't worry about the weight gain - there's always a little induldgence around Christmas that makes pants hard to button, and coated jeans have so little give and stretch! That's why I love skinny jeans with just a touch of elastane ;) More forgiving as weight naturally fluctuates (that time of the month is the hardest to button jeans for me, haha!).

Hope that you are having a nice start to your week :) We finally got some cooler weather after our weekend heatwave, so I've been enjoying that!

  8. Oooh I love that you broke up the post by focusing on each piece of this fantastic outfit - even the cute cat. I love when I do that for my blog posts though it is a lot more time-consuming. It is good for the SEO too.

This outfit is an A+. Along the one with the wine heels, vest and floral top these are my favorite 2 looks of yours from Jan 2018. I have actually worn several cute outfits this month but haven't had time to post them. Oh and I love your coated skinnies and fantastic snakeskin pumps the best!!
