Pile It On or Take One Off

Happy New Year, my friends!! I'm excited for a new day and a new year. If I were to recap 2017 you'd see pictures of outfits, cupcakes, kiddos, adventures in Alaska, more outfits, more cupcakes and good old fashioned silliness.  Perhaps 2018 will look very much the same, but that's the adventure of it. I truly don't know.  However, I do plan on adding more intentionality into my spontaneous lifestyle. I want to be more intentional about how I spend my time, what I'm blogging on and taking better care of my body (returning to some of my granola ways).

I'm asking myself these questions? What is the purpose of my blog? What value (if any) am I adding to someone's life that reads this blog? Is this a hobby or do I hope for more? In short, where am I going with this blog???

Now before I roll up my blogger sleeves and dive right into today's outfit, I wanted to take a moment to THANK YOU. Thank you for making this year a year of friendship, encouragement, growth and community. I've loved every comment, every visit from you (AND to you). I've loved co-hosting, linking up and participating in fun collaborations. THANK YOU! I believe that I'm still blogging because of YOU.

...AND COFFEE?? Wink. Wink. Today's outfit features one of my Christmas gifts: a graphic tee by Seriously Happy Tees. I honestly don't know where the inpsration came for this ensemble, but it started with the tee and pants.  From there it just kept growing.

Minimalist be like, Woah? Was it Coco Chanel that said, "before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off"?

Apparently, I forgot to apply that principle when I wore this outfit. Picture me standing at my closet, talking to myself (because I do that a lot).

Hmmmm. It's chilly so I'm going to need some extra layers of course. Oh look! Here's my olive cardigan. And that's still not quite warm enough, so let's see....Ah, yes. My shaggy green vest.
Ouuuu. I have a green belt that would match this.

What shoes, What shoes??? Let's pull pack in some grey. Grey Oxfords!
Of course I'll need some bronze jewelry. Add it all.
Wow. Ok. I've gong this far, so why not the hat?

So, being a little self-conscious about wearing most of my closet I decided to remove my hat...

Outfit Breakdown:
Graphic Tee: Seriously Happy Tees (Exact)/Corduroy Pants: LOFT (On Sale!)/Oxford Shoes (Macy's Option)/Necklace: Party Perfect/Slinkie Bracelet/Come Cozy Stretch Bracelet/English Ivy Earrings/Bag: OLD/Vest: Local Boutique

Well, what do you think? Hat or no hat?? And when is too much, too much?

Here's a quick picture of how I styled this tee the week before with a whole lot less...;)

In closing, I'm going to give you my uneducated opinion on this matter. I do believe there is a point when one can go so far with accessories that it's distracting, but I can't remember the last time I've seen an example of that. With this outfit, I loved how the colors and textures came together and it was so fun to keep adding. I think I could have owned the hat all day long and next time I shall! It's all in what you're comfortable with, right?

Much love and best wishes for the New year!!

Chrissy

  2. I have this discussion with myself all of the time, Chrissy!! I'm glad I'm not the only one.
And I've come to realize that I'm not a minimalist AT ALL! That be said, I love the minimalist look on others, but that's just not my personality (usually)!
So I absolutely love this outfit!! And I'd wear it--with the hat because my hair is usually a total mess!!
    Happy 2018!

    1. Hey Jodie! Thank you! I'm so glad you stopped by! Truly. :) I'm with you. It's rare that I engage in the minimalist trends. I end up taking minimalist pieces and stacking or layering them up. Haha! And I chuckled at your hat remark, b/c that's where I'm at. Hair is not my gifting.

  3. Happy New Year and for linking up to Top of the World Style. You look stunning with a hat. Where's the cupcake to the coffee?

  4. Chrissy, I love this post and your tee! I think whatever moves you in the moment as far as piling it on or going minimalist is what you should do! Sometimes, I look in the mirror and I think it's too much so I apply Coco's method of taking one thing off. Sometimes I look in the mirror and my heart is screaming more, more, more! I keep seeing all my fabulous blogger friends layering a vest over a jacket or cardigan and I am loving it! I need to give it a try. Thanks for linking up #SpreadTheKindness!
