Denim Skirts, Fashion Surgery & Link Up

Hello, hello. I hope this Sunday finds you well, relaxing, reflecting or getting into adventures. I'm still on an adventure high from my recent trip to Nashville, which I'll be sharing with you soon! Also, coming up on the blog is a post on my completed cabinets that I painted with the coolest "say no to chalk paint" ever! Ok, that is not the name of this paint, but that's the premiss behind it. Can we say no sanding necessary? Yes we can!  As for today's post, I'm pleased to feature this shop-my-closet outfit October's Sunday Showcase with Ada at Elegance and Mommyhood and Kellyann with This Blonde's Shopping Bag!  So please join me and/or link up with us today!

I'm not sure what inspired this look, but it turned out to be one I would repeat. The denim skirt went under the knife scissors recently for an update. It was slightly too long and I wanted a nice frayed hem. Was it a risky operation? Absolutely! We all know it's not easy to acquire a skirt that's a perfect length and fit! Thankfully, the skirt pulled through and I love the outcome. Ha! For your browsing fun, here's a few similar skirts that I found on Shopstyle.

The black and white striped cami was a cast off from a friend's stitch fix box that she never wore.

"You'll find something to do with this Chrissy."

Well, it took me awhile because it's fitted around the waist, which I try to avoid these days, and the stylish ruffles were a surprising challenge to work with!  However, a little practice and this cami and I are in business.

The cardigan is a Loft clearance find from long ago and the Merona bag from Target was a sweet gift from a friend. That bag turned out to be a great classic print and color for fall!

Ok my friends! Do you perform clothing surgeries from time to time? How do they turn out?

Now before I go, here's a little peek at my photographers and those upcoming posts I mentioned...

  1. I love the title, you clever girl! You are an awesome skirt "surgeon". The "lift" turned out great and such a cute cami. It pays to have friends who get stuff and not wear it. HA! I love the mustard colored bag too. I was trying to talk Katie into mustard something yesterday with no luck! Missing you! XO

    1. Thank you Kellyann! And you're right! Why haven't I tried this with my camo pants?? And we have to incorporate fun into EVERY photo shoot or it's not happening. lol. But in all seriousness, I don't want them to dread taking photos or have bad memories when they grow up of when they're mom made them take pics for her BLOG. So for as long as they will....

  3. The only clothing surgery going on over here is the amputation of a stray thread or the reattachment of a loose button. I wish I could sew but after several attempts at trying, I fear it is not meant to be. YOU, however, performed magic on that top. Love what Kellyann said about pairing it with camos! And I love it with your darling skirt. Yay you!!

I am so upset - I pulled out my denim skirt & it's too tight on me right now. That's inspiration to get my butt in gear - literally!
