It's All About That Tuck, Or Is it?

I've styled front tucks for quite some time. However, considering the fashion trend came on the scene in 2013 (thank you The Guardian), I'm sure I was considerably late to the party.  That's ok, I prefer the later trend, mullet tuck, where you tuck in the front and leave out the back. Either way, there's something about the trend that adds interest to an outfit for me.
In addition, I believe it can hide "problem" areas while still adding definition at the waist. So, rarely is there an outfit with all of the tee tucked in or out.  UNLESS, there's a curved hemline or as my knowledgeable friend, Lisa, says "shirt-tail"!   I hadn't thought too much into this, but if you don't want to fuss with any tucking of your shirt this style tee is the way to go. It's just so flattering!

For this reason, I'm featuring two outfits styled with a curved hem. There's no tucking to be seen. Wink. Also, aside from one of the tees and the shoes, my outfits are closet-shopped. Also, if you love this tee use Code: CHRISSY10 for 10% off!

First Look: "Grateful"
Aside from the soft fabric, this slouchy tee from Thread Tank wins the prize for "Easy To Style".  Feminine scripting, a neutral color and that flattering hem make this a top that hangs in my favorites section of the closet.

Side note: It looks like graphic tees are sticking around for awhile so we might as well embrace them.  I have enough of them now to know what cut, feel, and colors that I love.

Second Look: I See Stars
Many of you will need to add a layer or two to this look. It was nice and cool last week and then hot all over again in Florida this week. Ah well, thankful for $5.00 Costco finds like this star tee. Note the curved hem.

  1. Your tees are so cute! I love a shirttail hem- it's make a tee so much more polished.

    1. Thank you Fonda. And you're right! I should have added more polished to this post. Yes another reason to add them to the closet. ;)

  2. What a bargain at just $5 for the star print tee! Being petite I sometimes still have to tuck curved hem tops and tees - as they can be a little too long on me! I tuck quite a lot of pieces, haha!

Thank you for the link up!

Hope that your week is going well :)

    1. I noticed that you tuck a lot in your outfits, but I didn't even think about the fact that you're petite. See why commenting is so fun? We learn new things about each other. lol

  3. I like a little element to hem as well. It makes it perfect to not tuck. I’m not a huge fan of a tuck anyway. You look absolutely precious and relaxed.

    1. Thank you sweet friend. You're right. An element to the hem adds so much interest to the look!

  4. First of all, Chrissy, you know I am loving both of these tees! And the front tuck literally saved my wardrobe when it came on the scene. It really does wonders for hiding the midlife belly bloat! But I am really digging the curved hem tees left untucked. I wore a tee untucked the other day (it didn’t have a curved hem) and I didn’t hate it that way. Great post!

    1. Haha - yes. So perfectly stated...that front tuck saved my wardrobe as well. And sadly, my midlife belly bloat seems to be on the scene for awhile. Admittedly, it might be the biggest reason for my style motivation in the tucks. lol

  5. I love a good graphic tee and both of those are so cute! The front tuck can really save an outfit but I also love the look of curved hems! Gives the tee a little polish!

  6. I'm with you - I think a front tuck is really flattering and I do it often. But...it's really nice when a top has a shirttail hem or peplum detail or something and I don't have to tuck it. I love how you make your tees look cute and stylish!

  7. Such cute tees! I'm not sure what the mullet tuck is. My husband hates the front tuck and think it looks weird, and at 57 I have such a belly that even just doing a front tuck doesn't look good on me, so I generally leave my tops untucked.

  8. Oh, now I really love the cut of these tees! I just have a couple graphic tees because I have had a hard time finding ones that I like the cut and message. I can't believe you found that second one at Costco!

  9. The curved hem really is flattering. I'm all about the tuck as it makes me appear to have an actual waist!

  10. Now I need to run to Costco to try to track down that adorable tee!

  11. I love a good graphic tee - always have, always will!
I need to work on a tuck that will flatter this belly of mine.

  12. Yes I really like these curved hem Ts. Not a big fan of tucking, really does not do much to hide any belly bloat for me. Gonna look out for this style in future should I need Ts. Very flattering on you. Lise

  13. Well that first tee is just perfect for you because you, my sweet friend are the epitome of Grateful! I love your wedge sneakers - you don't look like a mom of four, you look like one of the kids! Youthful and stylish!!!

  15. I am so late to the tuck party and the only two tucks I can successfully pull of are the full tuck, usually with paperbag waist, or the mullet. LOL. I love these casual looks you've styled today and steal of a deal on the Costco top. I love how you feature a range of styles here to show off the different parts of your life. Also, I didn't know you ladies had a link-up on Wednesday, I'll be sure to join in next week. Happy weekend.
