Friday Favorites: Celebrating, New Restaurant Find, Chia Bowl For Breakfast

Hello dear readers! This Friday will be quick in word for yesterday we ended our day with one boy in the emergency room. More on that at the end of this post, but aside from that craziness I'm happy to share a few favorites from this week, which includes birthday adventures for the twins, a new local restaurant find and a recipe for my latest breakfast favorite - a chia bowl!

Favorite Activities: Celebrating the Boys

The twins turned ten last weekend, which is a big deal around here. We celebrated by seeing Avengers, a pool party and a new dinner spot with their Great Aunt and Uncle! They felt loved and my heart was full, though maybe a little sad about this milestone - no more kiddos under 10 in the house!! How time flies. By the way, we loved Avengers! There was plenty of comedy and no spoilers here but can I just say THOR!!!!

Oh and side note, I ordered that Good Vibes tank from Amazon and I've already worn it twice! It's so cute and comfortable. For reference I am wearing a small. Check it out here
New Pool Toys!
I love this picture!

Favorite Local Spot
A friend of mine told me about the casual Spanish Point restaurant that is right on the water with delicious seafood and reasonable prices. It lived up to her praises and we will return - even the fries were good!

I ordered fish tacos. I was drawn in by the locally made salsa and the in house tortilla chips. I'm a sucker for chips and salsa!

Favorite Breakfast Food - Chia Bowl!

I went to a new breakfast and lunch restaurant right around the corner from me called Buttermilk. It's here where my tastebuds experienced a chia bowl for the first time. Let me tell you they were delighted and insisted we return for more - twice more. ;) At Buttermilk they make their granola IN HOUSE and it's amazing. Just look at it! Anyway, I can't keep budget blowing habit up, so I made the decision to try it for myself. Y'all it's so easy!

Buttermilk's Bowl...

Now you know mine isn't going to look that pretty or have that amazing granola - yet. However, mine tasted almost as good.

What you will need:

2/3 cup of coconut milk
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
2 teaspoons of maple syrup
Rasberries, blackberries, pineapple, or whatever fruit you have on hand
Granola, Shredded Coconut and toasted pecans (again whatever you love)
I added 1 T SUPERSEED flour for extra protein - so good and ups the fiber as well.

To set up the pudding, add the chia seeds to the milk and place in the fridge overnight.
When you wake up and are ready to eat, add the rest of the ingredients and enjoy!

Pour your chia goodness into a blow and load it up with your favorite toppings...

Have you had a chia bowl before? If not, and you go for it, let me know what you think! If you haven't checked out this week's post on EO recipes for pets or more ways to style joggers, please hop on over. Your support and comments mean the world to me!

Quick Low Down on My Boy
After spending the day together at Busch Gardens (more on that later), we dropped our eldest off at football practice. Within an hour we received a call informing us that he was injured. A few hours and an X-Ray later determined that his clavicle was snapped in half and pulled slightly apart. Oh gross! Broken bones make my stomach church and it's hard watching him be in so much pain. Today is all about getting him an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon and keeping him as comfortable as possible.

I'll keep you posted! Have a great weekend!

  5. I'm so glad the twins had a wonderful birthday! And I agree that TEN is hard, but so much fun, too! Wayne and Alise saw the Avengers this week, too! Wayne loved it, but Alise said it was too long. I hope you are off to a great start with your weekend and hope Baby Boy recovers soon!
