Styling A Dress From Fall To Winter

Hello my cyber friends! If you follow me on Insta (and I hope you do!) then you've had sneak peeks from this photo shoot. Once again we're visiting the Ponce City Market in Downtown Atlanta. Kim is behind the camera and I'm flitting around in my final piece of the season from Caite & Kyla. (Click Here and Here for other pieces from them!)

Without planning it, this embroidered flowy dress became the perfect transition item to style from fall to winter! Aside from the boots, dress and scarf, the rest of the items are all closet shopped! I hope you enjoy today's style and join us for today's Style Six Link up!
Styling A Dress From Fall To Winter
Layering: the Jeans
So here's this gorgeous dress from Caite & Kyla. It's silky in feel and glides like a dream. However, it's light weight, with short sleeves. How is that going to work for those cooler temps? Well, a current trend I've observed is layering your dress over jeans, so that's where I'll start. I've seen jeans paired with button up dresses, left open and layered with a cute top underneath. As it turns out a hi-lo hem works nicely for layering too!

Natalya Dress : C/O Caite & Kyla/Dallas Boots: C/O Soft Comfort Shoes
Layering: the trench cardigan
So here we add a long trench cardigan to the look. The cardigan is almost as long as the dress, blends well in color and goes with the flow - literally. This could complete the look, however this won't be warm enough for even my Georgia friends!

Layering: the bomber and the scarf
To complete our fall to winter look, I'm adding a navy bomber jacket and a scarf (thank you Kellyann).

Today's footwear is brought to you by Soft Comfort Shoes. The western style and rich brown color arrived just in time to complete this boho, layered look.

Have you tried layering jeans under a dress? If you haven't, put on your favorite pair and go play in your closet some. It's always nice to get more wear out of the items we already own! In fact, I want to try it with THIS DRESS that I've styled earlier on the blog!

Alright friends, did you catch the Holiday Gift Guides this week on ideas "For the Guys" & "For the Fun"? I hope it helps you on your gift hunts!

  3. I love your layering! The only times I layer a dress over jeans is in the fitting room when I'm too lazy to take them off! LOL. I need to try this! This is such a fabulous look!

    1. Jill, that made me laugh out loud! Truth be told, this look happened by accident...I was getting ready to go out for the evening and slipped on the dress before slipping off the jeans. I looked at my hubby and said, "hmmm, I think I'll keep the jeans on." He was a little dubious but once I finished, I think we both liked it.. lol Hard to tell with him sometimes.

  8. I'd love to have the luxury of a photographer! Yes, I have put jeans under a dress! (A tunic dress that would have been quite the scandal had I worn it alone!) . Those boots are so cute, and so "you!" Hugs!

  13. While warmth is important, many of us hate the accompanying bulky clothes that replace our beautiful flowing, breezy silks and cottons of the warmer months.
