Grafomap: Create A Map Of Any Place

Hi! In lieu of my regular Friday Favorites, I bring you today's Friday Favorite Feature: the coolest, customizable piece of wall art!  I've created a map of Sarasota to put above my coffee bar, but when Grafomap reached out to collab for one of their posters, I knew Glen would enjoy one as well. He had mentioned how cool it would be to have a map of his favorite fishing spot, Lido Key.

He's always loved the outdoors, but his more recent love of fishing has grown exponentially since moving to the Gulf Of Mexico.  Interestingly enough (coincidence) his fishing hobby began only about a year before we moved!  Though he had a learning curve with shore fishing, he quickly mastered the tricks. He also learned more about what fish were good to catch. Hint: catfish is not one of them. However, snook is unique to South Florida, so I'd say those are his favorite fish to catch!
The Map
Creating a map is easy. With a few simple steps, you can choose your place and design. If you don't want to bother with framing the poster, Grafomap has a few choices. There's an option to frame, have it printed on canvas, metal, or even a tee-shirt. Prices begin at $49, with only the poster. I chose the "Hanger" option, which makes this a lightweight item that can be held to the wall with a push pin!  Once your map arrives up to you to design your space.

Reading Up On His Favorite Hobby...

Sometimes I feel like this about his favorite hobby...

Behind The Scenes
The first string of ideas for the flat lay began in the front room, with A LOT of rearranging.   Thankfully we had to break when Glen arrived for his debut. Once those pictures were finished we nixed the front room and came up with a far simpler layout, which I ended up loving.

Complimenting Art Work Delay
In addition to the flat lay struggles, the artwork that I ordered to go with the map didn't come in, leaving us with a "gap" so we had to improvise quite a bit. Here's a picture of my sister helping me lay the groundwork.

This Wall Needs Help!

You know what makes me laugh about all this? Glen loves his poster so much, we're going to put it in his office. So I will redecorate this wall for the third time. However, this adventure did motivate me to use gathered shells and Siesta Key Sand for decor.

One more shot of the dog...because she has to be where people are working.
Now my younger boys want a map of Georgia designed for their room. These boys! Can I blame them though? These maps add character to any space and are a fabulous tribute or memento. They'd also be an amazing gift for birthdays, anniversaries, mother's day or father's day, a graduate, a big move, etc!
*Special thanks to Emma for snapping most of these photos!

  1. I love the concept of these maps! Your feature wall looks amazing! I love your decor!

  2. It looks so pretty! You will need a map for over the couch too lol! Nice flat lay: creative!

  3. Oh that is so COOL! I bet Ian would love a map like that of Augusta since The Masters is played there and he has been a few times. Great Christmas idea!

  4. Pretty cool! I would love a map of Cape May!

  5. Chrissy, I love this! We recently had a map made of my hometown, the town where I met my husband and where we started our family. Being military, as you know, you tend to move around a lot and I always thought it would be cool to create a whole wall gallery of maps of places we have lived...together and separately. I absolutely love the way you designed the entire wall to showcase your map. Thanks for sharing and linking up with me.

  6. I always think maps are so cool. In fact, when we moved, we studied ours almost daily. I need to do that again.

  7. What a good idea! Love it! It's good for bringing memories above!
