How To ReStyle A Shirt Dress

Altard State
Hello and welcome back to another fashion feature. Though many weeks I'm on fashion auto-pilot, every once in a while I steal a moment to enjoy my closet. I know for some, shopping for clothes or getting dressed is a chore and I get it! That's one of the reasons I blog. Once upon a time, I had a small closet full of poor choices and no fashion confidence.

Today I still have a small closet, but I make better shopping choices and I've learned to enjoy making the most of what I have. That's why today I'm sharing a shirt dress restyle, my latest "closet" addition, and of course the Blogger Six link up.

A Shirt Dress Restyled

For reference, this shirt dress from Altar'd State was a Christmas gift two Christmases ago. I love the simplicity of it, however, I don't wear often because of the length.

Over Jeans & A Tank

This is my featured outfit of the day, but I'm sharing two other looks for kicks as well! Throwing the button-up dress over a tank and jeans is simple, classic, and easy. It's also another way to transition the dress to fall. Once you've worn the dress with tights, a layering piece, and your favorite dress, there's no reason to set the dress aside, right?

The New Addition!
Over the summer, I began working with Luca Love Bracelets. I wear those bracelets so much, I decided to continue working with the brand. In addition to pieces I love, the women I've "met" there are sweet, caring, creative, and fun. For me, it's more than the product! They also add beautiful, personal touches to their packages. I'm a sucker for it, so I'm back with a new piece - a choker that is adjustable! My discount code is: GRANOLANGRACEF20 for 20% off your total purchase! Did I mention that the necklace is only $18?!

Shirt Dress With A Skirt
Because, why not? I kept the same tank, but switched out the jeans for a skirt and the slides for leopard print ankle straps.

Shirt Dress Over A Dress
This is fun to me, simply because I get a kick out of wearing two dresses! I've styled this dress with an olive-colored utility jacket so this was an easy restyle.

What do you think? Would you try any of these looks, if you haven't already?

  1. Chrissy, this is brilliant styling! I love wearing shirt dresses open this way and layering them. All three outfits are so great! I would have never thought to layer the shirt dress over another dress though. It is magnificent!

  2. What fun stylings my friend! You look just beautiful as can be! These outfits and YOU make me smile!

  3. What a great idea Chrissy and I love these looks on you. I don't own a shirt dress, they don't work well on my body BUT all these ideas are making me think outside the box. You look FANTASTIC my friend!

  4. Such creative ways to wear a shirt dress! I haven't worn mine like a kimono for a while, I really should before it heats up too much (it's long sleeve!).

Thanks for the link up :)

Hope that your week is going well :)

  11. I do this too! I prefer wearing the shirt dresses as cover-ups or jackets!! Looks so cute on you my friend xx

  12. I just LOVE how you styled this many ways Chrissy!! That's exactly the reason I kept one of my shirt dresses, to wear it this way.

  13. So cute! I think I like it over the short dress best.

  14. Such a smart way to re-style a button down dress! I absolutely love it. The first outfit is my favorite and perfect for the transition from summer to fall.
