Nashville Bound & the TBB ASKS Fall Edition

Hey friends! It's October 1st and I can't believe it, but I'm Nashville bound to meet some blogger friends for the first time! This trip has been on the calendar since the beginning of the year, but life and big changes kept this in the back recesses of my mind. Even now today hardly feels real. If it weren't for the fact that I'm sitting in the airport preparing to board a plane, I'd still believe I dreamed up this adventure.

As, I've shared in my last couple of posts my family and I are moving so things are beyond hectic. I'm trying to soak in as much Georgia people time as I can, while listing one house and putting an offer on another! Yikes! So, I'll make it quick and share some looks that I've tried with this pin-tuck kimono from AE and then get right to those questions! ;)

TBB Asks: Holiday Questions & Answers

Hello! Welcome to December, right? Last Monday we were finishing up all things fall and after one weekend, we have Christmas lights and our tree set up at home. The Christmas season is here and I couldn't be more excited! There's much to love about the Christmas season, but I also recognize that the holidays can be a difficult time for those suffering the loss of loved ones, loneliness, financial difficulty, etc. I pray that this Christmas of 2017 you will be comforted and even surprised by extra doses of kindness as you go through out your day.

Today's post is another fun get to know you, question and answer segment from the Blended Blog series: TBB ASKS. Can you guess the theme?
Yes!
The Holidays!!
But before I delve into those fun questions, here's a quick peek at my random outfit. I say random because it doesn't look as put together as I'd like. Just the same I had fun with it and I like to share my  wins as well as not-quite-there-yet, or all out flails on the blog.

Well, I did love the boots, the skirt and the jewelry from this outfit. I'd wear this again, but with a few tweaks. Now let's get on with those questions!!

TBB Asks - Things You're Thankful For

Hello my friends! I'm excited to share this month's TBB asks post! I wish I had more shots of the outfit I'm sporting in the above picture but some days it's enough to get myself and family out the door! In addition, finding the time to shop for great deals on clothes is a challenge these days. However, I did manage to find the top and coordinating cardigan at a local boutique for $5 and $10! The rest of my shopping seems to be happening online lately.

Okay, enough about that sad picture. Let's get right into the questions!

1.  A New Friend
These last few months have been rich in conversation with new, developing friendships. Isn't it funny how you can see someone regularly at church, work etc and then in one conversation or fun hang out, a beautiful friendship begins to form?  I'm learning to be intentional with the friendships I have, as well as keeping the "circle" open for others that come along.

Guard your "safe friendships" and then remember to keep the circle open.

TBB ASKS Link-UP: OCTOBER

I love the fall! I know I say that about each season when it rolls back into play, but I mean it. Fall is special. I consume my sweet calories for the year in pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin scones and the list goes on! Already the days are growing shorter and we're experiencing temps below the 70s - that feels so great!

When my big boys were small, my family and I would go on mini-adventures to nearby apple orchards and pumpkin patches that are grown in the mountains of Georgia. The ride is gorgeous, the air is as crisp as the apples we picked and the family time so memorable. Yes. I love October. Welcome October!

I'll stop my chatter to answer these fun questions put together by The Blended Blog!

TBB ASKS OCTOBER
1. Favorite Fall Sweet Treat?
Oh goodness. If it has pumpkin, hand it over. I'm not all that addicted to sweets but there is something about pumpkin bread, pumpkin cupcakes, pumpkin donut holes, pumpkin rolls and the list goes on.

2. Red, Yellow or Green Apples?
Red please. Or go ahead and hand over a honey crisp. I'm eating one every day, while they are $1.50 a pound!

3. Favorite Fall Sport to Play?
Uh. Hiking a sport?

4. Best Drink for Fall?
Let's see. Coffee.

5. Favorite Fall Activity?
More hiking, foliage viewing and camping

Here's a pic from our adventures at Chic-fil-A's Rock Ranch covered wagon camping adventures in Georgia.  I'm not going to lie. I froze my booty off out there and probably won't return any time soon, but we made great memories out there!

We camped in this covered wagon!

6. Must have Fall Purchase?
More Lattes, cozy sweatshirts and sweaters!

7. Pumpkins: Pick your own or store bought?
Tell me about the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown...

They are not so little anymore.

8. Real or Fake Pumpkin?
I'll take both.

9. Favorite Halloween Costume?
Hmmmm. That's a good one. My wedding dress. I'm serious. I've worn that every year and depending on who comes to the door I'm either a disney princess or a corpse bride.

Here's another favorite. ;)

Caden, when he was 5

10. College Football or NFL?
Well, neither, but my boy plays HS football so, "GO Lions!!"

11. Fall or Halloween Decor?
Leaves, Pumpkins and Cornucopias - Oh my!

12. Raking Leaves or no Leaves to Rake?
Somebody bring a dump truck!

13. Favorite Soup?
Pumpkin? Butternut squash? I'm open to them all. Is chili a soup? ;)

Butternut Squash Soup

14. Favorite Fall Candle scent?
Cinnamon

15. Love or Hate Pumpkin Spice?
And everything nice - come on!!

16. Short Booties or Tall boots?

17. Favorite Halloween Candy?
Swedish Fish

18. PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte): YES or NO?

New Denim & TBB Asks Back-To-School Edition!

Hello! Happy Labor Day Weekend! For some this means it's back to school time, but for those of us in the South, we just welcome a break from the FOUR weeks already invested in school life! Just the same,  I am happily joining some of my blogger friends in this special Back-To-School Edition with the TBB blogger group.

In addition, I thought it would be a great time to share my second and latest pair of denim by Judy Blue. After all, you can't beat the clothing sales featured during the Back-To-School season! Not to mention, the coming chill in air that makes me excited about slipping on a pair of jeans. So if you're not off the grid, I hope you can share in on today's fun, starting with these jeans.

I stumbled onto Judy Blue denim at a local boutique, Marisa Jill's, in one of our quaint, downtown squares in Georgia. They are soft and stretchy, molding to your body in all the right places. The distressed patches are not yet gaping holes, where bulges of leg protrude to rudely remind you that you've long left your exercise routine in the past.  They are nicely priced at $39.00, so I wasn't overly worried about how long this trend would stick around!

The handbag was a birthday gift from a friend by Patricia Nash Designs. My friend informed me that she found it at Nordstrom Rack. Of course! Some of my best finds are from there.Aren't the leather roses beautiful and the details so fun? I love it.

The shoes are nothing fancy and were my first Clark's sandal. I needed something with good support!

Outfit Breakdown:
Top: Entourage (similar)/ Jeans: (Judy Blue)/Handbag: Patricia Nash (Fun Option) /Shoes: Old/Necklace & Earrings (Cashmere by PD and Cleo by PD)

Ok! Let's get to answering these back to school questions that caused some major reminiscing!

1. Love school or hate it? It was always mixed emotions for me. The beginning of the year would start out with excitement and optimism, only to be disappointed once the work load came along.

2. Start school before or after Labor Day? I started school after Labor when I lived up North, but reluctantly had to adjust to before once we moved down South.

3. Wake up? Eager beaver or Slow poke? The sun is shining and the birds are singing - let's go!

4. Favorite breakfast? eggs and toast or yogurt parfait please

5. Favorite cereal? Captain Crunch. Though I don't know why, it always tore up the roof of my mouth.

6. No school uniform! However, I did go to a private school for a few years, where I was only permitted to wear skirts or dresses to the knee or longer. Culottes were for sports and swimming. Swimming was so interesting in culottes.

7. New outfit for the first day? Ocaisionaly

8. Walk to school or ride the bus. I walked to school in elementary school but when I transferred to a private school, my mom drove me.

9. Jansport Backpack was my method of transporting educational items

10. Eat school lunch or packed lunch? Mostly endure school lunches, with the exception of pizza day. Everyone loved pizza day.

11. Oh I remember the milk cartons. Chocolate when I could get away with it.

12. If I packed a lunch it was a paper bag.

13. Favorite thing to do at recess? It is terrible that I don't remember a recess time? All I'm able to recall is PE.

14. Favorite back to school item? Lisa Frank folders and pens!!

15. Chalkboard or Dry Erase? Send in markers please!

16.  Regular pencil or mechanical? Click, click, click.

17. Homework as soon as you got home or after dinner? In the afternoon with a snack please.

18. Favorite after school snack? Vanilla Wafers. How random. Mostly had to pick from what was available. We didn't have a lot of snack type food to choose from.

19. Favorite after school show? Ah, the television. What a way to unwind. ;) Unwind and dream about my own possibilities of becoming a tv star. Ha! I watched House and thought I might make a good DJ. I'm not sure I understood the concept of casting, but c'mon, an ethnic DJ would have been fabulous.

Full House

I never did get to act, however I am left with this little memento from a short-lived modeling "career"...

20. Favorite subject in school? Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou? Oh and chorus.

21. Least favorite school subject? Something times something equals what?

22. Name of your best friend in high school? Amber. What's up girl??

23. High school mascot? Bronco

24. SAT or ACT? SAT

25. Favorite year in school? Senior Year. Honestly, I was a late bloomer and couldn't wait to get out.  Just not enough confidence.

26. Class ring or no class ring? No class ring. Honestly I wanted a leather jacket more, but I received neither. No worries though. Somehow I turned out just fine.

27. Attend or Not attend high school reunion? Not a single one. Tragic.

How about you my friends? Did this post trigger any memories from your school days?? As always, I love to hear from you.

Question Time: Summer Edition With TBB

Hello! Though our Monday in Georgia is overcast and dreary, I'm pushing away the gloom with this sunshine-filled post!  The Blended Blog is keeping our summer feeling alive by doing this fun "TBB ASKS" series and I'm thrilled to be join in. However, before I begin the question series, I wanted to post a few shots in yet another way I've style this jumpsuit from the GAP. I can't help but wear it over and over again, as it's incredibly comfortable and can be dressed up or down. WIN!

This time I wore this get up to a lunch with friends and then later to our teens Open House for school. By the end of the evening my feet were crying! These wedges aren't meant to go the distance, but after a few compliments I felt strengthened to carry on. ;) Alright! Enough about that, let's move onto question...

Outfit Breakdown:
Top: Cast Off (Chicos)/Jumpsuit: GAP/Shoes: WHBM warehouse sale! ($6.00)/Jewelry: Granola & Grace PD Gems

The questions...

1. Pool, lake or Ocean? Pool comes in first, but then comes the ocean. I love watching my boys explore and hunt for wildlife. If only I could get over my shark fears, the ocean would win out, but I've watched one too many episodes of Shark Week!

2. Camping, Cottage or Hotel? Oh my goodness, send me to a quaint cottage in a small town. How about a cottage in England or Tuscany where I can wake up to a delicious breakfast and then stroll the cobblestone streets, with breathtaking views all the day long.

3. Favorite Ice Cream Flavor? Talenti, Chocolate Sea Salt or sorbet. I think I need some now.

4. Pj's, Nightgown, T-Shirt/Shorts or Birthday Suit? Give me comfy pjs please.

5. Fave Summer Beverage? Iced Coffee, Pink Drinks from Starbucks and Kombucha!

6. Would you rather be hot or cold? I'm conflicted here. I'd rather be hot, but when I'm cold I love to bundle up.

7. Sandals with heels or flats? Flats. Too many places that require walking around here. I wear these neutral flats several days out of the week!

8. Shorts or skirts? Shorts, sometimes, but mostly pants. Veiny, veiny legs. It is what it is!

9. Sit in the sun or in the shade? In the shade with a cool breeze and a book please.

10. Water, Tea or Soda? Water. I need to be drinking more of it!

11. Favorite Summer Fruit and Veggie? Hmmm.  I like a lot of fruits. I'll go with blueberries and Watermelon for my fruit and squash and zucchini for my veggies.

12. Sunrise or Sunset? Oh goodness, Both! Though I seem to catch the sunsets most.

13. Bike Ride or Walk? Depends? Hilly? Walking. Flat Florida landscapes? I'll take a bike please!

14. Winery or Brewery? My closest beverage to wine or beer is Kombucha, but if I had to choose between the two it would be a winery...in Tuscany.

15. Garden or no Garden? No garden. Unless it came with a gardener.

16. Big summer concert or music in the park? Music in the park please! And can I be one of the singers? ;)

17. Fave cookout food? Grilled Salmon

18. Dine indoors or patio? Patio is what I'd like. Indoor is what I do. Just too many bugs here in GA!

19. Fave summer destination...most Florida beaches

20. Big Theme Park or Local Carnival...Big Park. Give me superman at Six Flags!

21. Drinks blended or on the rocks? Do green smoothies count here? ;)

22. Popsicle or freezie flavor of choice...any gourmet ice pop please!

23. Hot dog or hamburger...hamburger wrapped in lettuce and topped with tomato, avocado, purple onion and cheese!

Now how fun was that? I can't wait to read the others and hear comments from you!
