What To Wear: Thanksgiving Outfit Inspo

Do you pick your Thanksgiving outfit ahead of time or do you wing it at the last moment? Does your family and extended family take family photos that day? Are you used to a big group or do you have a quaint and quiet celebration? No matter how you celebrate, all that truly matters is if you're comfortable and feeling confident. Today's outfit is what I would choose for comfort, but the added fashion details make me feel more confident.  Of course, this outfit works for any fall day, especially in warmer climates but there are a few reasons it works for Thanksgiving.

What I Wore: The Chelsea Rain Boot

Jambu is representing again today with a timely pair of rain boots. Why timely? Well, they arrived the day before we had an uncharacteristically long rainy day. We get plenty of rain in Florida but it's not often that it lasts all through the day. It also happened to be a Friday, which is a casual day for us at work. Did I mention that it was picture day at work? I remembered as soon as I saw my coworkers all dressed up.  Yeah. I forgot. However, not all was lost because during the shoot I was able to hide behind the sofa and afterward the sweet photographer, Joni, snapped this photo for me...

What I Wore: Handwoven Boho Beauties

When you're choosing your next pair of shoes to you pick neutral or bold? When it comes to shoes or handbags, I leaned towards neutrals. I wanted to get more cost per wear. I wanted them to go with as much of my existing closet as possible. However, through blog adventures, I've learned that patterns, bold colors, and unique designs cohesively and harmoniously blend with neutrals. They can add so much interest to an outfit. And that cost per wear decreases by the ensemble. What do you think?

Today's post features the fabulously boho-inspired, loafers and matching handbag from the Italian-designed Enjoiya shoes. They sent me the bag and shoes for review, but all opinions are my own. Bonus, I get compliments on these items by friends, as well as strangers - that's always a good indicator! ;)

What I Wore: The Prettiest Velvet Tops

Hello and welcome to another week, right? The temps are cooling off in Florida and I can now imagine styling cozy and luxurious fabrics, like velvet. Velvet has been around for a long time. I'm trying to picture someone from the renaissance era, parading around in their velvet dresses. How heavy they must have been, although appropriately warm in the wintertime. Of course, most velvet we purchase now isn't woven from silk, but it's cozy and luxurious just the same in my opinion.

What I Wore: A Shirt Dress Styled Two Ways

Have you added a shirt dress to your closet yet? I own a couple of sporty tee-shirt dresses but this button-up shirt dress c/o Caite & Kyla is so elevated and loaded with possibilities. You're going to love the gorgeous detailing on this beautiful piece. As for the weight and feel, you will have to trust me when I say it's sublimely soft and comfortable. With the snap-up feature, you now have a trench-style layering piece. Don't you love the beauty of versatility?

Now, this is a Caite & Kyla piece so you know there's going to be embroidery details. This particular design is swoon-worthy.  The raw edge hem is around the bottom, on the sleeves, and around the neckline.  I wore the dress to church one morning with short block heels and a lacy scarf but switched those shoes for the sneakers pictured here by evening.

From Shirt Dress to Jacket

For the second look, I styled last week's runway style leggings from WHBM with an old dressy tank shopped from the closet. There's a multitude of colors to pull from the embroidery so I went with green, burgundy, and blush. This look gives me all the boho feels that I'm so at home in.

Speaking of blush, I have enough accessories in this color to add to my accessory "set" list. When I'm in a hurry I know this hat, these shoes, the purse, earrings, and even some bracelets are easily styled together. It worked perfectly in this instance.

My photographer and best friend

By the way, we will celebrate twenty-one years of marriage this Thursday! This guy will lay on the ground, climb up on ledges, and sweat in the Florida heat to take some fun angles. I sure do appreciate him for so many things, but this goes above and beyond!

Have a wonderful week!

Hello! Are you welcoming the weekend with open arms today? I most certainly am. Today marks one full work week down in the books. I'm brain tired but feeling hopeful and excited about things to come. And for right now that means a day without having to think too hard. Ha! I'll be happily engaged with chores around the house this weekend...in these fun in or outside shoes by Jambu. It's been a long week, right? We deserve a moment to kick up our feet and these shoes deserve a Friday Feature spotlight because of their comfortable, multi-purpose fabulousness.

What I Wore: National Leggings Day With WHBM

Happy National Leggings Day! I know. There's a day for everything now. We are even celebrating an item that seems to have changed how we look at fashion. I remember a YouTube video called "Active Wear" making fun of how we took gym clothes and made them into everyday clothes. But it didn't stop there, did it? Now we dress them up! We wear them with sneaks, flats, heels, and boots. Oh, I love a good chunky sweater (or shacket nowadays) and some cute boots! Well, Florida is not ready for chunky sweaters so today's feature is a pair of faux leather leggings c/o WHBM styled for day and night.

Also, I have another life update to share at the end of the post. Missed Friday's post? You can catch up right HERE

Friday Features & Favorites: Local Places & Family News

This week's round-up features local places, some fashion, and even some favorite snacks. Come to think of it that may be the theme around this blog. What can I say? These are a few of my favorite things - ha! Anyway, in addition to the usual type of favorites, I have a family update to share. This will be at the end of the post. I hope you enjoy my friend!

What I Wore: Fab Blouses & Colors For Fall

It's bright, sunny and in the 80's here in South Florida. You know this means minimal layering, breathable fabrics, and of course no chunky sweaters! However, we can fake fall vibes with fall colors, right? Today's blouse feature is another gorgeous Caite & Kyla design sent for me to review. The unique hemline and cut, cascading flow, and gorgeous print make styling fabulously simple. I featured the top with white pants because these days anything goes and there are no more "no white after Labor Day" rules!

It feels so good to bring back Friday Features & Favorites! In this revived series, expect to see exactly what it states: special features and tried and true favorites. Either way, if I don't like it, you won't see it here

Another element you can expect is featured places, events, or experiences. Basically, it's a free-for-all that is noteworthy. And today's noteworthy range from household items, to comfort slippers and bags on the go. I'm so glad you're here!

What I Wore: Looks In a Hurry

What closet items do you reach for when you're in a hurry? I'm referring to that kind of hurry when you don't have time to do makeup or hair, forget about trying to style an outfit! Of course, it depends on where you're going, and in today's post, I share two different scenarios. Also, let me say that I think just about any outfit can be jazzed up with the right layers, accessories, etc.

What I Wore: Tribal Fashion Plaids & Stripes

Today's looks go from business casual to playful with fabulous pieces sent by a new-to-me brand called Tribal Fashion. Have you heard of them?  I "met" them on Instagram through other influencers.  Founded in 1971, Tribal is no stranger to fashion, creating unique designs and quality, classic pieces.  Though they began in Montreal, Canada they didn't remain in one location. Their brand is found in over 2,000 stores across North America.

What I Wore Wednesday: Gifted & Thrifted WHBM

Blazer (New)/ / Lace-up Tee c/o WHBM / / Embroidered Jeans (similar)
Today I'm dressed head to toe in White House Black Market. I took a mix of my recently gifted pieces and combined them with WHBM items I already had in the closet. Working with WHBM takes me back to my early fashion days. I've shared my story about how I grew to love fashion on the blog before, but today I want to share my first legit denim shopping experience. However, before I start, let's talk about this outfit!

What I Wore: High Waisted Dreams from WHBM

I've stayed away from the high-waisted jeans trend, that is until now. I swore them off, though I should know better to swear off anything until I've tried it. However, when WHBM reached out to collaborate, I saw this pair of lightly distressed high-rise denim I had to try them. And I'm happy to report they fit like a dream. Today I styled them two ways, bringing back last week's top!

What makes these jeans special is the stretchy material that WHBM does so well. Instead of feeling compacted, I feel supported. In both looks I feature a half tuck, though I have worn a shirt completely tucked in. I'm surprised to say that I liked that as well.

What I Wore: WHBM Denim and More

Do you shop at WHBM? When I lived in Georgia I frequented their seasonal sales. Their denim was my favorite. Why wouldn't it be? Soft and stretchy in all the right places with unique cuts and designs for a confident approach to the "what am I going to wear today?" question. However, when we moved to Florida, the storefront was no longer around my usual stops. I missed my sale hunts! So you can bet when WHBM reached out for an opportunity to share some of their pieces, I excitedly accepted! Today's post features three of those pieces!

What I Wore: Customizable eShakti Dress: Floral Butterfly

Once again, I customized a dress from eShakti Designs, and once again I chose from their Boho line, Wayward Fancies. They have software technology that allows you to see what your dress will look like with long or short sleeves, varying necklines, and of course, varying dress lengths.  What a brilliant concept!

In addition to fabulous dresses, today is also the last day for the Blogger Six Link up. Granola & Grace will be publishing Wednesday fashion posts, but our link-up is retiring. I'll share more at the end of this post on the link-up.

What I Wore: Customizable Eshakti Dresses: Sunflower Poplin

Have you ever had your clothes taylored to you? Other than my wedding dress and a bridesmaid dress or two, I've not tried a clothing service that offers customized sizing. That is of course until now! Eshaki reached out and offered a review on their designs and services from start to finish and I accepted.

There are many designs to choose from, which are conveniently organized by brand style. For example, "Wayward Fancies" are their bohos styles so I camped out there looking for prints and colors I love. Once you find a style you like, the free customizing adventure begins. You can choose the neckline, sleeve length, and of course the length of the dress.

What I Wore: Pull-On Sneaks and Casual Slouch-y Vibes

These casual vibes have set the tone for my week, friends. A slouchy tee, elastic waist-drawstring denim, and slip-on sneakers are what I've been up for! Today is my birthday and I'm happy to say that I officially have a natural immunity to the CV-19 virus. Happy birthday to me! It took the full ten days to recover and I'd say I worked hard for these antibodies. Some of our boys already had it last season, so of course, they didn't have anything to worry about.

Our kitchen cabinet looked like a dispensary with all the vitamins and such. It's so fascinating how some of our friends in their 80s had cold symptoms and nothing more. What a wonderful blessing, as they were who we were concerned about. As for myself, I must confess that I didn't prepare my immune system this early in the season. My focus was on getting my blood to flow as it should, without over coagulating, etc. I wasn't even taking vitamin D3!! In fact, my doctor believes that my immune system wasn't at its strongest because of the clotting, etc.

Ok, enough about this. We certainly hear enough about it wherever we go! I'll close with a reminder to take that Vitamin C, D3, and Zinc!

What I Wore: Gladiator Sandals And Fall Transitions

What am I doing talking about fall transition? Do you see how bright and hot the sun is in Sarasota right now? And it will continue to be hot through September for sure. However, I noticed that this outfit looks like the perfect fall transition, especially with the gladiator sandals from Secret Celebrity. I wore them to the Buff City Soap Event last week and featured them on the blog. However, I thought they needed another feature!

What I Wore: Influencer Event at Buff City Soaps

There's a lot of ways we can support our local community, whether we're into blogging and social media or not. However, one of my favorite ways as an influencer is to attend special events for new businesses coming in on the scene. That's why I didn't hesitate to accept an exclusive invite to Buff City Soaps Sarasota's Soap Event. I hadn't even heard of them, but I wasn't concerned. I saw "plant-based homemade daily soaps" and I was in.
Also, some new shoes from Secret Celebrity arrived hours before the event so I ended up styling my entire outfit around them. This post is just a sneak peek, but spoiler alert: I love them!

What I Wore: Soft & Trendy Tees By Rockdale Designs

None of us are strangers to a graphic tee, I'm sure. I know I've had my fair share of them over the last 5 plus years. Graphic tees have been styled every which way, allowing individuals to express an idea, thought, or feeling simply through what they are wearing. One can take up a cause, make someone laugh, share cool vibes, express art and even encourage with a design on a tee. I'd like to know who started this trend, wouldn't you?

I've worked with several boutiques, styling and sporting their tees. So I'm no stranger to what a good quality tee feels like. And today I'm happy to share Rockdale Designs' quality and trendy, vintage tees with you! They use sublimation for all their prints, which means you will have a nice permanent print that won't crack or fade!

What I Wore: Summer Dresses For Dinner Or Dessert

These last couple of weeks, the hubby and I were able to sneak away TWICE! That's unusual for our schedules but sometimes event "cards" fall as they may. These little getaways inspired this post because one was out for a full course meal, while the other was a short escape for dessert. I wore dresses to both outings, as is fitting for the Florida heat.

I shopped my closet for the dresses but linked up the shoes I know you'll love, as well as the accessories that represent small businesses or companies that are out to make a change in the world. In addition, I hope you'll be inspired to get out and get some time with someone special.

What I Wore: An Athletic Shoe You Need to Try

walking shoes

Get out there and move! We hear this all the time. We know that walking is tremendously beneficial to our health or dare I say, vital. Our body is like a banking account. You can make deposits or withdrawals based on food choices, environment, and activity. Every substance or food that our body recognizes is used and what it used gets a good interest rate, building on our future health. However, everything that our body doesn't recognize is a toxin. Those toxins make withdrawals.

Have you ever searched your end-of-the-month statement or credit card bill for one big expense to justify the shocking balance at the end of the month? Oh, I have and I"m usually disappointed to find that somehow all those five, ten, and twenty-dollar purchases added up to one big bill that leads to a big withdrawal from our account.

What I Wore: Casual, Relaxing Vibes

What do you think about the shortall trend that continues to live on? Though I often fight with the shoulder straps, I still wear them on repeat. You can give up the strap-struggle and wear one side down, use them as a bathing suit coverup or sport them classically.  And the laid back, relaxing vibe is paramount in a pair of overalls. Of course, if you can find a graphic tee that fits perfectly within your bib triangle, you've lucked out! That my friends is what happened to me last week.

Featured today are items shopped from my closet, though I've linked what I could find. I wore this getup to meet up with my in-laws, which includes my husband's aunt and uncle. After a hike through the beautiful Emerson Point Preserve, we ventured to lunch at a local Jamaican restaurant.

Speaking of adventures, we are heading on our first family vacation in almost 4 years so I'm keeping it short for today. We aren't going far and we're keeping it short, but we are happy to do something with the six of. So maybe next week, I'll have some fun pictures to share with you!

What I Wore: Fashion Thoughts & Cayman Pants

Hello, and welcome to another edition of "fashion play". This week I have questions in regards to your thoughts on fashion.  What do you love about fashion? Have you determined your personal style, or do you consider fashion at all when you prepare for your day? Do you have fashion pieces that elicit happy feelings when you put them to use?   Regardless of your answer, I hope you find my thoughts on these questions inspiring and helpful.

How we dress plays a role in how we feel. Isn't that fascinating? If I'm lounging around the house braless and in my pjs, I'm highly unmotivated. If I'm put together with the addition of styled hair, I'm ready to take on anything. Of course, clothes do NOT define the person, however, they do make a statement about the person. And isn't that part of the beauty of personal style? It's unique to the individual. You can fall in line with a particular style and still have your own method of interpretation.  Two women can own the same top and style it in different fashion genres. That's the adventure in fashion. And life is too short not to appreciate adventure wherever it may lie.

What I Wore: The Best Shorts and Sandals For Summer

What is your day-to-day style in the summer? With Memorial Day behind us, June is ushering in the summer, which means mostly shorts and sandals for me. However, that doesn't mean that layering is last season.  Today's outfit is the perfect example of what I like to wear in summer.  It's casual but cute enough to meet up with someone. And of course, it's comfortable enough to wear all day long. What makes this outfit so comfortable? It's all about the shorts and the shoes...

What I Wore: One Dress & Two Pairs of Shoes

I'm bringing back these fabulous neutral sandals c/o Enjoiya with a new dress. And with so many colorful options in the embroidery, I couldn't resist styling this dress with another pair of summer sandals c/o Enjoiya! Finding easy ways to restyle a look is as simple as changing out your shoes, adding a belt, hat, or jacket, and maybe even swapping out your purses! The objective is to enjoy our clothes, rather than dress in angst. In addition, with a sufficient supply of staples in your closet, there's no reason not to repeat that dress, those pants, or that favorite top!

What I Wore: Comfort Wedges Styled Two Ways

aetrex wedges

Do you like shoes with height or do you stick to flats? If you stick to flats, is it style preference or because shoes with a heel are no longer comfortable? Well, each time I get a compliment on these Lexa Wedges by (and c/o) Aetrex Shoes, I want to share how comfortable they are and why that is! I've styled these coral cuties with jeans, slacks, and dresses. And there wasn't a time I didn't receive a compliment from someone! Today I'm sharing two looks I paired these shoes with, so even if you're all about flats, maybe you'll be inspired on ways to style the color coral.

What I Wore: Earth Tones With Kimonos & Wedges

There is a certain level of comfort to earth tones, wouldn't you say? Even if I'm in the mood for bold and bright, I lean into those soothing earth tones. There's something about sandy browns and ocean blues. Of course, I understand that we are all drawn to different color palettes, as warm and cool tones complement us differently. However, today's kimono has a mix of both warm and cool in those blues, and the brown sandals are a staple for any wardrobe.

*Both the kimono and sandals were provided to me for review. However, all opinions are my own.

What I Wore: Flyaway Pants & Aetrex Shoes

When I saw these flyaway, linen pants on the Caite and Kyla website I knew I had to try them. First of all, linen is one of the best materials for hot, sticky weather. Secondly, the slit along the sides gives them an airy, flowy feel adding another hot weather bonus. My first thought was to style them as a beach coverup. However, I realized they would work for both a beach run and store runs by styling them with a button-up oxford!

As for the Aetrex Jillian Sport shoe, those were a surprise. With a water-ready design, I knew they would work for going to the pool or beach, but would they work with my style? Read on for my full review and look for discount codes at the bottom of this post. Both the shoes and the pants were provided to me for review. All opinions are my own!

How To Make Dinners Easy With Blue Ribbon Foods

blue ribbon foods

How convenient would it be if when you planned your menu for the week, you already knew you had a freezer full of choices? And to sweeten the deal, what if those choices were all-natural, farm-to-table produce, meats, and more? Since hitting the reset button on our family diet, my biggest dilemma has been quality meat choices that are affordable. So when the opportunity arose to review Blue Ribbon Foods and services I jumped on board. Read on for an inside peek!

What I Wore: Print Mixing With One-Of-A-Kind Prints

print mixing
One print, two print, three print, four. Anything goes nowadays, right? This especially applies when you take subtle pops in your shirt sleeves or animal prints on shoes or purses. I've mixed stripes with floral, camo with floral or stripes, leopard with floral, and the list goes on. However, this is the first time I've mixed a one-of-a-kind print with a one-of-kind print. And it's all because of an Instagram challenge mixed with a busy schedule.

oryany
This outfit began with a closet shopped venture into neglected capri pants, tops, and a last year's wedge sandals in the morning. I wish I had time to snap a photo of but I forgot in the morning rush. Later that evening, I was due back up to church for our college and 20 something's small group. And yes, Im that personality that dresses according to the vibe of where I'm going. I stay within my realm, but I wasn't feeling the sandals for the college group.

I swapped out the wedges for the white tennis shoes and then remembered the print mixing style challenging I'd yet to get pictures for. After a quick glance around the room, I spotted a print scarf with the same colors as the top I was wearing. Why not pair them together? I threw the scarf around my shoulders. Oh heck no. I tied it around my waist. Hmmm. The tassels hung perfectly at my hip and somehow the two prints blended.

I grabbed my well-worn chambray blazer, my latest navy purse and was out the door. Feedback from the young ones is always appreciated!

"That's a scarf? I thought that was a part of your top!"
"Love the white sneakers, Chrissy"
Today's featured scarf is on sale for $20! Couple that with the 20% off discount code and you've snagged a unique find for a fabulous price! CODE: Love Kyla Scarf

Love Kyla Shirt Options Options (limited sizing) : Sharkbite / / Love Kyla Notch Neck / / Love Kyla Tassel Tunic

Style Takeaway

  • As always, try something you haven't tried before.
  • Two different prints in the same colors just might work if worn in just the right place.
  • When mixing prints, I opt to keep the accessories neutral or subtle.
  • A blazer styled with sneakers makes for a cool, calm, and collected vibe.
  • A hip sack makes for a convenient, hands-free experience while adding balance to certain outfits.

What's Up On Social Media

Well, of course, there was this print mixing style challenge. There's a sale on my favorite skincare (25% off site-wide with code: MOM) and Friday I'm featuring a new pair of kicks!
